What is happening?

                                   TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH                                                       THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL                                                         (COTHAM FOOTPATH NO.7)                                                                             (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION)                                                                       CONTINUATION NO.5 ORDER 2026                

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State Transport in pursuance of the powers conferred by Sections 14 and 15 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 approves of “The Nottinghamshire County Council (Cotham Footpath No.7) (Temporary Prohibition) Notice 2023” (which came into force on 1st March 2023 and was continued in force by a Continuation Order which came into force on 22nd March 2023 and was further continued by a Continuation No.2 Order which remained in force until 31st August 2024 and was further continued by a Continuation No.3 Order which remained in force until 31st August 2025 and was further continued by a Continuation No.4 Order which remains in force until 31st August 2026 inclusive) being extended and continuing in force until 31st August 2027 or until completion of the relevant works, whichever is the sooner.                                                 The Order has the following effect:-                                                                No person shall: -                                                                                             (a) proceed on foot,                                                                                            in the following length of Footpath at Cotham in the District  of Newark and Sherwood: -                                                                                              Cotham Footpath No.7 its entire length between Cotham Village and Grange Lane, a distance of approximately                                                      940 metres.                                                                                                         

The Order has the following effect:-                                                                No person shall:                                                                                                (a) proceed on foot,                                                                                           in the following length of Footpath at Cotham in the District                            of Newark and Sherwood: -                                                                            Cotham Footpath No.7 its entire length between Cotham Village and Grange Lane, a distance of approximately                                                      940 metres.                                                                                                         AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction there is no alternative route available for pedestrians on public rights of way.                                                                                                       If the works are not completed within the above period, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the further approval of the Secretary of State for Transport.                                                                                              The prohibition is required to protect public safety due to the footpath currently being unavailable due to long term quarrying and landfill works which were in progress before the footpath was recognised and recorded on the Definitive map.                                                                                               THIS NOTICE DATED THIS 27TH DAY OF AUGUST 2026                             Corporate Director of Place                                                                                Nottinghamshire County Council, County Hall, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7QP                                                                                                               For more information contact: countryside.access@nottscc.gov.uk
