Farnham By-Pass, South Street and Station Hill, Farnham - 40mph & 50mph speed restrictions

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL

(Farnham By-Pass (A31), South Street (B3001) and Station Hill (B3001) Farnham)
(40 MPH and 50 MPH Speed Limit) Order 202-

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-named Order under Section 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers the effect of which will be to impose a:- 1. 40 miles per hour maximum speed limit in that length of road specified and described in Schedule One to this Notice; and 2. 50 miles per hour maximum speed limit in that length of road specified and described in Schedule Two to this Notice; and 3. revoke “The Surrey County Council Farnham By-Pass (A31) Farnham (50 mph Speed Limit) Order 2009” in its entirety. The speed limits proposed by the above-mentioned Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011.

Copies may also be viewed at – (a) Farnham Library, Vernon House, 28 West Street, Farnham, GU9 7DR during normal opening hours; (b) Waverley Borough Council, The Burys, Godalming, GU7 1HR, during normal opening hours; and (c) Reception, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, GU4 7BQ, during normal office hours. If you wish to object to, or make representations relating to, the proposed Order, you must send the grounds for your objection or representation (including any in support), – (a) in writing to Traffic Regulation Orders Team, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ; or

(b) by using the online form via the website quoted above – by 8 October 2026.

Schedule One

1. that length of Farnham By-Pass (A31) Farnham north-eastbound that extends from a point 230m southwest of the centreline of its junction with Weydon Lane (D5317) to a point 75m southwest of the centreline of its junction with Snailslynch (X84158), a total distance of 1.2km
2. that length of Farnham By-Pass (A31) Farnham south-westbound that extends from a point 12m southwest of the centreline of its junction with Snailslynch (X84158) to a point 230m southwest of the centreline of its junction with Weydon Lane (D5317), a total distance of 1.14km
3. that length of South Street (B3001) as extends from a point 25m north of its stop line at the junction with Farnham By-Pass (A31) to its junction with Farnham By-Pass (A31)
4. that length of Station Hill (B3001) as extends from a point 25m southeast of its junction with Farnham By-Pass (A31) to its junction with Farnham By-Pass (A31), a total distance of 25m

Schedule Two

NB. These sections of road are what remains of the 50mph imposed by the 2009 Order and therefore are not up for consultation at this time.

1. that length of Farnham By-Pass (A31) Farnham that extends from a point 200m west of the western highway boundary of Weydon Lane (D5317) to a point 230m west of centreline of its junction with Weydon Lane (D5317)
2. that length of Farnham By-Pass (A31) Farnham north-eastbound that extends from a point 75m southwest of the centreline of its junction with Snailslynch (X84158) to a point 500 metres northeast of the northeastern highway boundary of Station Hill (B3001)
3. that length of Farnham By-Pass (A31) Farnham south-westbound that extends from a point 500 metres northeast of the northeastern highway boundary of Station Hill (B3001) to a point 12m southwest of the centreline of its junction with Snailslynch (X84158)
