What is happening?
THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
(LODDON AND CHEDGRAVE)
PROPOSED SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION AND CYCLE TRACK/FOOTWAY AND BUS STOP CLEARWAY NOTICE 2026
Norfolk County Council propose to make the following Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:
The Norfolk County Council (Loddon and Chedgrave, Various Roads)
(20 mph Speed Limit) Consolidation and Variation Order 202X
The effect of the Order is to:
1. consolidate The Norfolk County Council (Loddon and Chedgrave, Various Roads) (20 mph Speed Limit) Consolidation Order 2019 whereby the 20 mph speed limit on the existing lengths of road specified in that Order will not be changed apart from the length of road set out in point 2 below; and
2. vary the existing reference to the C554 Beccles Road/High Street/Bridge Street/Norwich Road and replace the current description with "From a Point 281 metres south-east of its junction with the C385 Norton Road northwards to a point 85 metres north-west of its junction with the C202 Langley Road". This is an extension of 101 metres into the existing 30 mph restriction.
3. vary the existing Order whereby the lengths of the existing restrictions remain the same, but road descriptions are updated for clarity.

The effect of the Order is to:
1. consolidate The Norfolk County Council (Loddon and Chedgrave, Various Roads) (30mph Speed Limit) Order 2013 whereby the 30 mph speed limit on the existing lengths of road specified in that Order will not be changed apart from the C554 Beccles Road set out in point 2 below; and
2. vary the existing reference to the C554 Beccles Road and replace the current description with "From a Point 281 metres south-east of its junction with the C385 Norton Road south-eastwards and eastwards to a point 147 metres east of its eastern junction with U71280 Little Money Road". This is a reduction of 101 metres which would become a 20 mph restriction as set out above.
3. vary the existing Order whereby the length of the existing restriction on U71280 Little Money Road remains the same, but the road description is updated for clarity.
Speed Limit Orders are proposed to be consolidated for clarity and efficient administration of the restrictions. As part of the consolidation the existing Orders are being updated to reflect current legislation, or are being clarified to make them clearer, or are being amended to correct minor errors. The reference of ‘vehicles’ is being updated to ‘motor vehicles’ to reflect current legislation.

As required under Sections 65(1), 66(1) and 66(4) of the Highways Act 1980, Notice is hereby given that Norfolk County Council propose to install a shared-use footway/cycle track (with rights of way on foot) at the following location in the Town of Loddon:-Installation of Shared Use Footway/Cycle Track
C554 Beccles Road (Eastern Side) | From the junction with the 7P1038 Wagtail Road to a point 93 metres north-west of that junction |
C554 Beccles Road (Eastern Side) | From the junction with the 7P1041 Woodpecker Road to the junction with the 7P1038 Wagtail Road a total of 94 metres |

(Bus Stop Clearway) Notice 2026
Notice is hereby given that Norfolk County Council propose to introduce bus stop clearways as defined in Schedule 7 of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 and the associated no stopping at any time restrictions for any vehicles, except buses at the following locations in Loddon:

C554 Beccles Road (Eastern Side) | From a point 176 metres north-west of the centre point of its eastern junction with the U71280 Little Money Road, for a distance of 17 metres in a north-westerly direction. |
C554 Beccles Road (Western Side) | From a point 369 metres north-west of its eastern junction with the U71280 Little Money Road, for a distance of 17 metres in a north-westerly direction. |
A copy of the draft Orders, a plan and Statement of Reasons for making the Orders and existing orders can be viewed online at www.norfolk.citizenspace.com. Copies are also available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH and at the offices of South Norfolk Council, Horizon Business Centre, Peachman Way, Norwich, NR7 0WF, during normal office hours. Online viewing is recommended.
Any objections and representations relating to the proposed Orders must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. Comments may also be made in relation to the Cycle Track/Footway Conversion Notice and Bus Stop Clearway Notice. All correspondence for these proposals must be received at the office of nplaw, Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH, marked for the attention of the nplaw Traffic Regulation Order Team by 29th September 2026.
