What is happening?
THE CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON (AVENUE ROAD) (ROAD CLOSURE) (161/67) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Southampton City Council intends to make the above Order.
1. The effect of the Order will be to close Avenue Road from its junction with Spear Road to its junction with Portwood Road.
2. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road. These works are for Linkbox works.
3. The alternative route will be Avenue Road, Earls Road, Alma Road and Portswood Road.
4. The Order will come into force on 21st September 2026 and has a maximum duration of 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner. It is expected that the works will be completed by 2nd October 2026.
