What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF POTTERS LANE,
BOREHAMWOOD) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Potters Lane, Borehamwood from its northernmost junction with Well End Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 18m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Well End Road and Potters Lane.
The Order is needed because cabling works and pole testing are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 21 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF WATER LANE, WATFORD)
ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Water Lane, Watford from a point 285m north east of its junction with Lower Derby Road north eastwards to its junction with Bushey Hall Road, a distance of approximately 145m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Water Lane, Lower High Street, A411 (Lower High Street/Chalk Hill), B462 Aldenham Road and Bushey Hall Road.
or via Bushey Hall Road, B462 Aldenham Road, A411 (Chalk Hill/Lower High Street/Dalton Way/Waterfields Way/Beechen Grove) and Water Lane.
The Order is needed because bridge inspection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 22 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

WATFORD) ORDER NO.2 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Sandringham Road, Watford from its junction with Balmoral Road north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Buckingham Road, a distance of approximately 395m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Balmoral Road, A412 St Albans Road, Bushey Mill Lane and Sandringham Road.
The Order is needed because sewer cleaning works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 24 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SARRATT ROAD, SARRATT)
ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Sarratt Road, Sarratt from its junction with Dimmocks Lane south westwards for a distance of approximately 114m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Dimmocks Lane, The Green, Poles Hill, Dunny Lane, The Street, The Common, Bucks Hill, Toms Hill, Chandlers Lane, Redhall Lane and Sarratt.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 7 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN
WATFORD AND ABBOTS LANGLEY) ORDER NO.2 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-
- that length of Moss Road, Watford from its junction with Kingswood Road north westwards to its junction with North Approach, a distance of approximately 236m.
An alternative route will be via Kingswood Road, Sheepcot Lane, A405 North Orbital Road, Greenwood Drive and North Road.
- that length of Upper Highway, Abbots Langley from a point 32m north west of its junction with The Garth north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 55m.
An alternative route will be via Upper Highway, Long Elms, South Way and Upper Highway.
- the road fronting Nos.54-68 Upper Highway, Abbots Langley from its junction with Upper Highway north eastwards and north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect from 7 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 weeks to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON
VARIOUS ROADS IN ELSTREE AND BUSHEY HEATH)
ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) will be:-
- To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A411 (Elstree Road/Watford Road), Elstree from its junction with Aldenham Road south westwards, north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 899m.
An alternative route will be via A411 Watford Road, A5135 (High Street/Elstree Hill South), A41 North Western Avenue (Watford Bypass) and A411 Elstree Road.
- To prohibit all vehicular traffic from being driven at a speed exceeding 30mph on the following lengths of Roads, when signs are in place:-
a) that length of A411 (Elstree Road/Watford Road), Elstree from its junction with the A41 Tylers Way/A41 North Western Avenue (Watford Bypass) roundabout north westwards, south westwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Schubert Road, a distance of approximately 1470m.
b) the A41 Tylers Way/A41 North Western Avenue (Watford Bypass) roundabout, Bushey Heath from its junction with A411 Elstree Road clockwise for a distance of approximately 207m.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect from 7 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 131 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
