What is happening?

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council intends to vary the details contained within the notice of the Temporary Road Closure Order for Hythe Road, Hythe & Dibden, New Forest, previously advertised in connection with SGN gas main replacement.  
ROAD TO BE CLOSED: that part of Hythe Road between its junction with Garden City and the property known as South Lodge.  
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE FOR VEHICLE UNDER 7.5 TONNES: Main Road, A326, Twiggs Lane.  
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE FOR VEHICLES OVER 7.5 TONNES: For vehicles wishing to travel south through the closure: Main Road, Oakland Drive, Normandy Way, Bury Road, Marchwood Road, Jacobs Gutter Lane, A326 and Main Road. For vehicles wishing to travel north through the closure: Main Road, A326, A35, A326, Jacobs Gutter Lane, Marchwood Road, Bury Road, Normandy Way and Oakland Drive, Main Road.  
DURATION OF ORDER: from 7th September 2026 for a period of 6 months or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner. 
(Notwithstanding, it is expected that the closure will commence on 14 September 2026 and be required for no longer than 10 weeks and in operation 24 hours a day).  
The road closure has been granted by Hampshire County Council to facilitate works for SGN to carry out gas main replacement works. If there are any queries or enquiries regarding this Order or the associated works, please contact: customer@sgn.co.uk  
SGN will provide reasonable facilities to allow access to adjacent premises and provide notice to those directly affected while the work is being carried out.
