What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (U3162 Robertson Passage, Hastings)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Robertson Passage – for its full extent.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible. The Order commences 16 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 16 and 22 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6438 Market Street/Lion Street, Rye)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Market Street/Lion Street – from the junction with U6438 Church Square to the junction with U6437 High Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U6437 High Street – U6438 West Street, Church Square.

The Order commences 14 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 14 September and 23 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3229 Berlin Road, Hastings)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026 No.2

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Berlin Road – from the junction with U3232 Edmund Road to the junction with U3221 Athelstan Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3221 Athelstan Road – U3225 Bedford Road – U3232 Edmund Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 14 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 14 and 18 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road; Temporary Road Closure

Friars Hill – from the junction with C970 Chapel Lane to the junction with A259 White Hart Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C970 Chapel Lane – A259(T) White Hart Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 28 August 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 28 August and 1 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C703 Peartree Lane, Bexhill)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Peartree Lane – from the junction with U6505 Ocklynge Close to the junction with P6624 The Byeway.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C703 Peartree Lane – U6503 Cowdray Park Road, The Gorseway, Chestnut Walk – A259 Little Common roundabout – C703 Peartree Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 3 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 3 and 4 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C18 Herrings Road, Ashburnham/Dallington)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Herrings Road – from the junction with C18 South Lane to the junction with C18 Ponts Green.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C18 South Lane – B2096 Woods Corner, Battle Road, Darwell Hill, Kane Hythe Road – A271 Beechdown Wood, Kitchenham Road – C18 Hammer Hill, Church Road, Ponts Green and vice versa.

The Order commences 1 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 3 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C92 Fairlight Road, Hastings)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which continues temporarily to close the following length of road:

Temporary Road Closure

Fairlight Road – from the junction with A259 Old London Road to the junction with C92 Battery Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C92 Battery Hill, Pett Level Road – C23 Chick Hill, Pett Road, Friars Hill – A259(T) Winchelsea Road, Rye Road, Old London Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 2 September 2026 and is made following the issuing of a Temporary Notice dated 22 July 2026 and a Temporary Successive Notice dated 12 August 2026 under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. The Order lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated the closure will be in place between 2 and 30 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C27 Powdermill Lane, Catsfield/Battle)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Powdermill Lane – from the junction with B2204 Horns Corner to the junction with A2100 Lower Lake.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2204 Horns Corner, Tellis Coppice – A271 Beechdown Wood, North Trade Road, Ten Sixty-Six roundabout – A2100 High Street, Upper Lake, Lower Lake and vice versa. The Order commences 2 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 2 and 4 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6415 Horseshoe Lane & C417 Kings Bank Lane, Beckley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures

Horseshoe Lane – from the junction with B2088 Main Street to the junction with U6415 Ludley Hill.

Diversion via B2088 Main Street, Northiam Road – B2165 Clayhill, The Stream, Beckley Road – A28 Horns Cross, Northiam Road – C417 Furnace Lane – U6943 Moores Lane and vice versa.

Kings Bank Lane – from the junction with U6415 Horseshoe Lane to the junction with B2088 Main Street.

Diversion via B2088 Main Street – U6415 Horseshoe Lane and vice versa.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic set out above.

The Order commences 1 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 September and 21 December 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.
