What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(NORMAN ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily:

• close the length of Norman Road from outside and opposite the boundary of number 16 to the closed end of the road; and

• impose a no stopping, waiting or loading/unloading at any time restriction along the entire length of Norman Road on both sides of the carriageway and outside and opposite numbers 22-24 Valentine Crescent.

The Order will come into force on 11 September 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate the removal and replacement of an electricity transformer.

(CAROLINE STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily: close Caroline Street outside Burford Court; suspend the length of the parking bay opposite Burford Court; and impose a no stopping, waiting or loading/unloading at any time restriction within that bay; nothing in the Order will apply to vehicles used by Thames Water or their contractors. The Order will come into force from 14-16 September 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary for the installation of a bulk water meter.

(THE FORBURY, FORBURY ROAD AND VALPY STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the no entry restriction along The Forbury and Valpy Street and the one way restriction along The Forbury, Forbury Road and Valpy Street. Temporarily suspend bus, cycle, taxi lane on Station Approach, Forbury Road. The Order will come into force from 7-29 September 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to allow carriageway resurfacing works.
