What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (STANLEY ROAD, CHEADLE HULME) (TEMPORARY ONE-WAY TRAFFIC) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LEFT TURN) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce Temporary One-Way Traffic and a Suspension of a Left Turn at Stanley Road, Cheadle Hulme, at the junction of Handforth Bypass suspending all left turns onto Stanley Road, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road.
This Order is necessary to allow for works to install a new water connection. It is estimated these works will last 5 days.
A diversion will be provided via A34 Handforth Bypass, A555, and Wilmslow Road. This Order is to come into operation on 28 September 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
