Temporary Closure of C27, Church Knowle

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along C27, Church Knowle from Access To Bucknowle Farm to a point approximately 310 metres to the east (in both directions). The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 5th October 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 16th October 2026.

This Order will provide Wessex Water with safe access to install a flow meter in the Sewage Pumping Station.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using A351, C27 and vice versa.

Temporary Closure of Bindon Lane, Wool

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 18th September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 23rd October 2026.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.

The effect of the order is as follows:

[1] To impose temporary road closure on Bindon Lane, Wool from junction with B3071 High Street to outside Bindon Farm (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1050 metres. Please note the closures will be in operation, as and when indicated by signs on site.

Advanced warning signs will be placed on the road two weeks advance of the closure to indicate the exact dates the closure will affect the roads. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

[2] To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along Bindon Lane, Wool from junction with B3071 High Street to outside Bindon Farm (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1050 metres. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 21 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 11 December 2026.

This Order will enable Wessex Water Services, safe access to lay new sewer connection.

The effect of the Order will be;

[1] To impose temporary road closure on Kings Road between its junctions with Icen Way and the B3144

[2] To impose temporary road closure on Athelstan Road for its entirety

The above order was made on 21 August 2026, under section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The effect of the order will be to divert part of Footpath 103, Portland as shown on the order map as follows:

From the current route: The full width of the footpath from the unaffected part of Footpath 103 at SY 69947 72209 south to SY 69947 72171 then south east to SY 70228 72064 where it meets the unaffected part of Footpath 103.

Temporary Traffic Management Order

of Newstead Road, Weymouth

It will come into operation on 28 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 16 October 2026.

This Order will enable Connect It Utilities on behalf of Scottish and Southern Power Distribution, safe access to carry out electricity works.

The effect of this Order will be:

[1] To impose temporary clearway on Newstead Road from its junction with Marsh Road for a distance of approximately 80metres north.

Weymouth - Night Works

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 28 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 17 October 2026. The road will be closed at night between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00, and will re-open to traffic daily and at weekends.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out essential highway maintenance works.

The effect of this Order will be:

[1] To impose temporary road closure on Greenhill between Westerhall Road and Waterloo Place

[2] To impose temporary clearway on Greenhill between Westerhall Road and Waterloo Place to prevent vehicles from stopping except those associated with the works

Please note that any vehicle waiting in contravention of temporary parking restrictions may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. If a vehicle has been removed, the owner must contact the Council’s vehicle recovery contractor: Ashleywood Recovery Ltd/Bridle Valley Recovery Ltd on 01305 889421.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath S37/2, Portesham

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath S37/2, PORTESHAM from grid reference SY 60514 86123 to grid reference SY 60636 86103, a distance of approximately 120 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.

It will come into operation on 21 September 2026 and will remain in force for 26 weeks however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 16 October 2026.

It can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

This closure is required to allow site improvement works at Portesham Water Treatment Plant.

The alternative route will be: From SY 60514 86123 head south west to Portesham Hill, then head south along Portesham Hill and Front Street to SY 60313 85955, the junction with footpath S37/4 North Mead Farm, a distance of 150 metres. From SY 60313 85955 head east along footpath S37/4 to SY 60691 85782, the junction with footpath S37/3, a distance of 380 metres. From SY 60691 85782 head north along footpath S37/3 to SY 60636 86103 the junction with footpath S37/2, a distance of 285 metres.
