Merton - Multiple Temporary Road Closures & Parking Restrictions Due To Various Works

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 -Section 14(1) - (Burlington Road, New Malden) - (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) Order 2026
1. The Council of THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON hereby give notice that to facilitate crane works, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic from entering, proceeding or waiting, including in any parking places, in Burlington Road.

2. During The Works No Person Would:-
(a) cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in Burlington Road, from a point 73 metres east of the eastern kerb line of its junction with Rookwood Avenue eastwards for a distance of 67 metres; or
(b) cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading a vehicle, in the length of road specified in sub paragraph 2(a); or
(c) enter or proceed in the northern footway adjacent to the length of road specified in sub paragraph 2(a) above.

3. Any designated parking place situated in the road or lengths of road specified in paragraph 2 above would be suspended for the duration of the works.

4. The restrictions would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5. Nothing in the Order would apply to:-
(a) any vehicle being used in the execution of the said works or for the loading or unloading of construction vehicles; or
(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer; or
(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or
(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited roads or lengths of roads insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

6. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed using Malden Road, Malden Junction, Kingston Bypass or vice versa.

7. Pedestrians affected by the footway closure should proceed using the footway opposite or as directed by signage.

8. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

9. The Order would come into operation at 21:00 on 16 September 2026 and it is anticipated the works would be completed by 05:00 on 17 September 2026. However, the Order would remain in force for a maximum period of 3 months should further works be required.

1. THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON COUNCIL hereby give notice that to facilitate a programme of carriageway resurfacing and general maintenance works to be undertaken in the roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which, during the works, would be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from entering, proceeding or waiting, including in any parking places, in those roads or lengths of roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice.

2. Any designated parking place situated in any of the roads or lengths of roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice would be suspended for the duration of the works in those roads or lengths of road.

3. Alternative routes for diverted traffic would be indicated by advance warning and diversion signs on the roads affected when the works are in progress.

4. Any vehicle that is in contravention of any waiting restrictions imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

5. Nothing in the Order would apply to:-
(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or
(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited roads or lengths of roads insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

6. The Order would come into force on Wednesday 16th September 2026, and the anticipated works dates are specified in column 2 of the Schedule to this notice. However, the Order would remain in operation for a maximum period of 12 months, and its provisions would be re-introduced should further works be required.
