Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A28 Mill Road, Sturry, CT2 0BD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow rail inspection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A28 Mill Road, Sturry from 23:30 hours on 14th September 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 15th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A291 Sturry Hill, Herne Bay Road, Calcott Hill, Canterbury Road, Herne Street, Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, Westbound Slip Onto Wraik Hill Roundabout From A299, A290 Clapham Hill, Pean Hill, Honey Hill, Blean Common, Blean Hill, Tile Kiln Hill, Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, London Road, A2050 Rheims Way, A28 Pin Hill, Rhodaus Town, Upper Bridge Street, Lower Bridge Street, Broad Street, Military Road, Tourtel Road, Sturry Road, A28 Mill Road and vice versa.

B2205 Oxford Street, Whitstable, CT5 1NW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow bridge inspection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2205 Oxford Street, Whitstable from 22:00 hours on 16th September 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 17th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between Fable Green and The Handsome Sam, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for vehicles under 4.0m (13’3”) B2205 Canterbury Road, Borstal Hill, A2990 Thanet Way, Chestfield Road, B2205 Herne Bay Road, St Swithins Road, Tankerton Road, Tower Hill, Tower Parade, Harbour Street, High Street, Oxford Street and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicles over 4.0m (13’3”) travelling northbound is via B2205 Canterbury Road, Borstal Hill, A2990 Thanet Way, Greenhill Bridge Road, B2205 Sea Street, Whitstable Road, Colewood Road, St John’s Road, Herne Bay Road, St Swithins Road, Tankerton Road, Tower Parade, Harbour Street and High Street.
The alternative route for vehicles over 4.0m (13’3”) travelling southbound is via B2205 High Street, Horsebridge Road, Sea Street, Harbour Street, Tower Parade, Tankerton Road, Bennells Avenue, Herne Bay Road, St John’s Road, Colewood Road, Whitstable Road, Sea Street, Greenhill Bridge Road, A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill and Canterbury Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Arden Road, Herne, CT6 7DU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Arden Road, Herne from 17th September 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Ashdown Close and Halford Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Arden Road, Hawe Farm Way, Dean Croft and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Babs Oak Hill, Sturry, CT2 0JR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Babs Oak Hill, Sturry from 14th September 2026 with estimated completion by 15th September 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 29, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Babs Oak Hill, Hoath Road, Maypole Road, Ford Hill, Highstead, Boyden Gate Hill, Church Lane, Sandpit Hill, Nethergong Hill, The Glen, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Baddlesmere Road, Whitstable, CT5 2JG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Baddlesmere Road, Whitstable in phases, from 28th September 2026, with estimated completion by 22nd November 2026, or until the works have been completed.
Baddlesmere Road will be closed in its entirety, in phases, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site. Each phase will be closed and completed for no more than 100m in length at a time.
The alternative route for traffic during phases 1-4 is via Queens Road, St Annes Road, Northwood Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for traffic during phases 5-8 is via Northwood Road, St Anne’s Road, B2205 Tankerton Circus, Tankerton Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works via an alternative footway.
Bridge Road, Bridge, CT4 5AL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow tree and brick repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bridge Road, Bridge from 14th September 2026 with estimated completion by 25th September 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 5m either side of the Historical Railways Estate structure, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any eastbound through traffic is via Bridge Road, B2069 Nackington Road, A2050 Old Dover Road, A2050 Dover Road, A2, Bifrons Hill, Bekesbourne Road, Town Hill and Station Road.
The alternative route for any westbound through traffic is via Station Road, A2050 Dover Road, A2050 Old Dover Road, B2060 Nackington Road and Bridge Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Duckpit Road, Waltham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow cover and frame works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Duckpit Road, Waltham from 14th September 2026, with estimated completion by 18th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Yockletts End, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Duckpit Road, Church Lane, Kake Street, Waltham Road, Broadway, Duckpit Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Ford Road, Herne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ford Road, Herne from 29th September 2026, with estimated completion by 1st October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the Landfill Site, Broomfield Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ford Road, Broomfield Road, Margate Road, Ford Hill, Ford Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Greenhill Bridge Road, Herne Bay, CT6 8JY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Greenhill Bridge Road, Herne Bay from 20th September 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 11, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Greenhill Bridge Road, B2205 Sea Street, Avenue Road, High Street, B2205 Canterbury Road, A291 Canterbury Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Greenhill Bridge Road and vice versa.

Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet, CT3 4DQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet from 23:30 hours on 28th September 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 29th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route any through traffic (excluding vehicles over 7.5 tonne) is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, Stourmouth Road, Preston Road, The Street, Plucks Gutter, Gore Street, A253 Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Grove Ferry Hill and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonne is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 Goberry Hill, Roman Road, Pedding Hill, Ash Bypass, Sandwich Road, Each End, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, Canterbury Road West, A253 Canterbury Road and A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Kenfield Road, Petham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow apparatus repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kenfield Road, Petham from 28th September 2026, with estimated completion by 2nd October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Swarling Manor, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Kenfield Road, Chartham Downs Road, Garlinge Green Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Marley Lane, Kingston, CT4 6FG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow cover and frame works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Marley Lane, Kingston from 28th September 2026, with estimated completion by 30th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Marley House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Marley Lane, Westwood Road, Turks Hill, Marley Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Molehill Road, Chestfield, CT5 3PW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow telecoms works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Molehill Road, Chestfield from 17th September 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed approximately 162m east of the junction with Birkdale Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Molehill Road, Thornden Wood Road, Radfall Road, Chestfield Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Nelson Road, Whitstable, CT5 1DZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Nelson Road, Whitstable from 17th September 2026 with estimated completion by 18th September 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 49 and 27, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Nelson Road, Shaftesbury Road, Cornwallis Circle, Nelson Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Out Elmstead Lane, Barham, CT4 6PG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow new gas connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Out Elmstead Lane, Barham from 28th September 2026, with estimated completion by 5th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite The Annex at Sunny Downs, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any southwest bound through traffic is via Out Elmstead Lane, A2 from J A260 To J A2050 Patrixbourne, A2 Dover Road, Bonnybush Slip Westbound Off, Bonny Bush Hill, Black Robin Lane and Valley Road.
The alternative route for any northeast bound through traffic is via Out Elmstead Lane, Valley Road, Derringstone Hill, Mill Lane, Rabbit Hole, Church Lane, Gravel Castle Road, A2 J A260 Join Nw, Old Dover Road, A2 Through J A260 Nw and A2 From J A260 To J A2050 Patrixbourne Nw.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Pigeon Lane, Herne, CT6 7EJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow damage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pigeon Lane, Herne from 14th September 2026, with estimated completion by 18th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 8 and 11, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
