What is happening?

NEATH PORT TALBOT COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL
CYNGOR BWRDEISTREF SIROL CASTELL-NEDD PORT TALBOT (VARIOUS LOCATIONS NEATH PORT TALBOT COUNTY BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) NO 6 ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council intend in not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding along the lengths of roads set out in the Schedule below whilst the Order is in force. During such periods as are indicated by traffic signs informing the public that the roads are closed.

The Order is necessary to enable the Council's Highway Section to carry out resurfacing and maintenance works in the roads.

The Order will come into force on the 28 th September 2026 and shall continue in force for a maximum duration of 18 months, or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner. It is estimated that the works for each closure will take 3 days to complete.

SCHEDULES
Schedule 1
C147 Main Road, Bryncoch will be closed from its junction with the A474 Penywern Road in a northerly direction for 450m along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the remaining unaffected areas of Main Road and A474 Neath Road.

Schedule 2
Stratton Way, Neath Abbey will be closed from its junction with the A4230 Neath Abbey Road in a northerly direction in its entirety.
The Sinnatts will be closed from its junction with Stratton Way in an easterly direction in its entirety.
Gronow Close will be closed from its junction with Stratton Way in an easterly direction in its entirety.
Ryans Close will be closed from its junction with Stratton Way in a southerly direction in its entirety.
Pilgrims Close will be closed from its junction with Stratton Way in a southerly direction in its entirety.
Nidum Close will be closed from its junction with Stratton Way in a southerly direction in its entirety.
Parry Close will be closed from its junction with Stratton Way in a westerly direction in its entirety.
Friars Close will be closed from its junction with Stratton Way in a southerly direction in its entirety.
Monks Close will be closed from its junction with Stratton Way in a southerly direction in its entirety.
Benedict Close will be closed from its junction with Stratton Way in a south-westerly direction in its entirety.

The annants will be closed from its junction with Stratton Way in a northerly direction in its entirety.

There is no alternate route for vehicular traffic for all of the above A4230 Neath Abbey Road, Neath Abbey will be closed from its junction with the A474 Court Herbert Roundabout in a westerly direction to its junction with Taillwyd Road .

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via A474 Court Herbert Roundabout to Salting's Roundabout, A465, B4290 from Llandarcy to Jersey Marine, B4290 Pen Yr Heol, Burrows Road, B4290 Old Road, A4230 New Road and A4230 Main Road.

Schedule 3
Neath Road, Tonna (side road off B4434 Neath Rd) will be closed from its junction with Davies Andrew Road in a north easterly direction in its entirety.
Neath Road will be closed from its junction with Davies Andrew Road in a south-westerly direction in its entirety.
Neath Road will be closed from its junction with Davies Andrew Road in a north-westerly direction for approximately 10m.
Davies Andrews Road will be closed from its junction with Neath Road in a south-easterly direction in its entirety.
The Paddocks will be closed from its junction with Davies Andrew Road in a north-easterly direction in its entirety.
Caegwenith Close will be closed from its junction with Davies Andrew Road in a southerly direction in its entirety.
Hunters Ridge will be closed from its junction with Caegwenith Close in a south-westerly direction in its entirety.

There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic for all the above.

Schedule 4
Willow Way, Baglan will be closed from its junction with Old Road in a southerly direction to its junction with the Roundabout South of Willow Way in its entirety.
Maes Rhedyn will be closed from its junction with Willow Way in an easterly direction to its junction with Tir Onen for approximately 90m.
The One Way Traffic Order on Maes Rhedyn will be suspended for the duration of the closure between its junction with Lodge Drive to its junction with Willow Way.
Old Road will be closed from its junction with Willow Way in a westerly direction to its junction with Tyr Halen Row.
Old Road will be closed from its junction with Crawford Road in a southerly direction to its junction with Willow Way for 530m along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the remaining unaffected section of Old Road, A48, Sunny Mount, Glan Hafren and Roundabout South of Willow Way.

Schedule 5
Pen Y Banc, Seven Sisters will be closed at a point 30m south of its junction with Heol Heddwch in a southerly direction for 340m along its length.
The alternate route for vehicular traffic will be via Heol Heddwch, A4109 Brynhyfryd Terrace and Station Road.

Schedule 6
School Road, Ystalyfera will be closed from its junction with Penywern Road in a northerly for 110m along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the remaining unaffected section of School Road, Clare Road, Alltygrug Farm Road and Penywern Road.

Schedule 7
Tanydarren, Cilmaengwyn will be closed from its junction with Cwmdu Road in a northerly direction for 400m along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Maes Y Coed Road, Cilmaengwyn Road, Cwmdu Road and the remaining unaffected section of Tanydarren.

Schedule 8
Trevallen Avenue, Cimla will be closed from its junction with the B4287 Afan Valley Road in a northerly direction for 165m along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Castle Drive, Glannant Way, Heol Derwen, Heol Y Ffynon, Mackworth Drive, Greenwood Drive and B4287 Afan Valley Road.

Schedule 9
Tyn Y Cae, Alltwen will be closed from the side of property number 262 Tyn Y Cae in a westerly direction for 165m along its length.

There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic.
