TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

VILLAGE ROAD, BROMHAM 26 – 088

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Village Road, Bromham.

This temporary road closure is required to high friction surface dressing and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:00 to 15:00 hours 7th September 2026 to 9th September 2026

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Molivers Lane, Springfield Drive, Bromham Grange Lane.

The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of St Michaels Road, Bedford.

This temporary road closure is required for various carriageway patching and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:00 to 15:30 hours from 7th September 2026 to 11th September 2026

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Kimbolton Road, St Augustines Road, St Georges Road.

The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Gadsby Street, Bedford.

This temporary road closure is required to raise sluice valve to level and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 16:00 hours from 7th September 2026 to 9th September 2026

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Mill Street, Castle Road, St Cuthberts Street, Lurke Street, Gadsby Street.

The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Zuc1 From Shelton To B645, Shelton outside Elmsleigh.

This temporary road closure is required to install 14m of duct and replace joint box frame and cover and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 17:00 hours from 23rd September 2026 to 25th September 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Greyfriars, Alexandra Place, River Street, Hassett Street Midland Road, Bedford.

This temporary road closure is required for carriageway resurfacing and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 27th September 2026 to 27th October 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Brooklands Avenue, Wixams. This temporary road closure is required to facilitate carriageway patching repairs and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:30 to 15:00 hours from 21st September 2026 to 23rd September 2026

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Southern Cross, A6 Wixams Bypass, The Causeway, Bedford Road, Fisherswood Road, Green Lane, Brooklands Avenue.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSES TO REDUCE THE EXISTING WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN WADSWORTH COURT, ELSTOW

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council proposes to reduce the extent of the waiting restriction that was introduced by a recently made Traffic Regulation Order but has not yet been implemented on site.

Effect of the Proposal:

1. To  reduce the extent of the existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction on the following length of road: -

A    Wadsworth Court, Elstow

(i)    On its north-western kerb, from the projected centre of the roundabout extending in a south easterly direction for 13 metres. The proposed amendment reduces the current restriction from approx. 30 metres to 13 metres.

Relevant proposal documents may be examined during normal office hours at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP. They will also be available for viewing on the council’s website at www.bedford.gov.uk/proposedtro. The documents will be placed on deposit until 6 weeks after the Order is made or until it is decided not to continue with the proposal. BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE A PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN MURDOCK ROAD, BEDFORD

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received complaints about parked vehicles on Murdock Road, Bedford which are affecting visibility, safety and access for lorries and other vehicles visiting the Manton Industrial Estate.

Vehicles that cannot adequately turn into the Estate from Murdock Road can also cause congestion and delays for other vehicles and businesses. This proposal is intended to help resolve these issues.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce a ‘No waiting and no loading at any time’ restriction (double yellow lines and double kerb blips) on the following length of road:

A  Murdock Road, Bedford

(i)   On its western side of the westernmost northern leg, from its junction with the northeastern leg for a distance of approx. 66 metres in a northerly direction.

(ii)  On its northwestern kerb extending from a point approx. 29 metres northeast of the projected centre of the westernmost northern leg of Murdock Road for a distance of 74 metres in a north easterly direction.

A copy of this Notice, a draft Order, a plan, and a statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order may be examined during normal office hours at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP, and will be placed on deposit until 6 weeks after the Order is made or until it is decided not to continue with the proposal. (i)    Extending from the projected centre of the junction of West End and St Marys Close on its eastern kerb for approx. 5 metres in a northerly direction.

(ii)   Extending from the projected centre of the junction of West End and St Marys Close on its western kerb for approx. 5 metres in a northerly direction.

(iii)  Extending from the projected centre of the junction of West End and St Marys Close on its western kerb for approx. 6 metres in a westerly direction.

B     West End, Elstow

(i)    Extending from the projected centre of West End on its eastern kerb for approx. 12 metres in a southerly direction.

(ii)   Extending from the projected centre of West End on its eastern kerb for approx. 9 metres in an easterly direction.

1. To  introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions on the following lengths of roads:

A   Manton Lane, Bedford

(i)   On its east side starting from the projected centre line of Murdock Road and extending southwards for approx. 292 metres

B    Murdock Road, Bedford

(i)    On its north side starting approx. 5 metres east of the projected centre line of the junction with Manton Lane and extending eastwards for 28 metres.

Date of Operation This Order will come into force on 31st August 2026 or as soon as practicable after this date.
