Hunstanworth - Temporary Footpath Closure due to Bridge Repair Works

The County Council of Durham (Public Rights of Way, Footpath Number 1, Hunstanworth Parish, (Boltsburn Number 2 Footbridge) Hunstanworth) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026
The Council on 24/8/2026 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footpath. Footpath Number 1, Hunstanworth Parish, from the south of Boltsburn Number 2 Footbridge for 15 metres in a northerly direction (across the bridge) to enable bridge repair works to be undertaken. Any alternative routes for pedestrian traffic will be signed in the local area. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The works commenced under urgent 21-day Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice on 4/8/2026 and now require extending from 25/8/2026 for approximately 6 months. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
