HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF A DIVERSION ORDER HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, SECTION 119
(HERTINGFORDBURY 10) DIVERSION ORDER 2023

On 20th August 2026 Hertfordshire County Council confirmed the above order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert the public footpath running from TL 2910 1186 N along the driveway of Beechleigh, then NW across the garden to TL 2903 1194, to a line running W and N following the garden boundary as shown on the order plan. 

A copy of the order and order plan may be seen free of charge at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/rowapps or at www.eastherts.gov.uk/highways-and-parking/public-path-orders or by appointment at Hertfordshire County Council, Farnham House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage, SG1 2ST from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm on Monday to Friday. 

The Order comes into force as from 3rd September 2026, but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 3rd September 2026, make an application to the High Court.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BYDE STREET, HERTFORD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Byde Street, Hertford from a point 43m north east of its junction with Wellington Street north eastwards for a distance of approximately 15m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Byde Street, Wellington Street, Nelson Street, Molewood Road, Bean Road, A119 North Road, North Road, St Andrew Street, B158 (Old Cross/ Cowbridge/Port Hill/Bengeo Street), Cross Road, Duncombe Road and Byde Street.

The Order is needed because remedial works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 21 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SWANFIELD ROAD, WALTHAM CROSS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Swanfield Road, Waltham Cross from its junction with Central Avenue westwards for a distance of approximately 27m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Central Avenue, Gloucester Avenue, Royal Avenue and Swanfield Road.

The Order is needed because remedial works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 21 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. 

The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MARSHALLS LANE, SACOMBE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Marshalls Lane, Sacombe from its junction with Rowney Lane north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 200m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Rowney Lane, Potters Green, Standon Green End, Ermine Street, High Road and Marshalls Lane.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 18 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VICARAGE LANE, STAPLEFORD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Vicarage Lane, Stapleford from its junction with Hertford Restricted Byway No.009 south westwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Vicarage Lane, Sacombe Road, B158 (Bengeo Street/Port Hill/Cowbridge/Old Cross/Mill Bridge/ The Wash/Parliament Square/Castle Street), A414 (Gascoyne Way/Hertingfordbury Road), A119 (North Road/High Road) and Vicarage Lane. 

The Order is needed because vegetation removal and brick work repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. The Order will come into effect from 19 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. 

The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN HODDESDON) ORDER NO.3 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:- 

1. that length of A1170 Ware Road, Hoddesdon from its junction with the Bridle Way/ Plomer Avenue roundabout south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Westhill Road, a distance of approximately 829m.

An alternative route will be via A1170 Ware Road, A10 (Amwell Link Road/unnamed road/ Hoddesdon Link Road) and A1170 Ware Road.

2. that length of Roselands Avenue, Hoddesdon from its junction with A1170 Ware Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 10m.

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

3. that length of The Drive, Hoddesdon from its junction with A1170 Ware Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 10m.

An alternative route will be via A1170 Ware Road, Middlefield Road, Middlefield Avenue, Dorchester Avenue and The Drive.

4. that length of Briscoe Road, Hoddesdon from its junction with A1170 Ware Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 10m.

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works. The Order is needed because gas main works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 7 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 weeks to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF KING EDWARDS ROAD, WARE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of King Edwards Road, Ware from its junction with Grantham Gardens south eastwards for a distance of approximately 14m (“the Road”). An alternative route will be via King Edwards Road, New Road, A1170 High Street, B1004 Star Street, Bowling Road and King Edwards Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 8 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON
3U40 (UNNAMED ROAD), WELLPOND GREEN) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of 3U40 (unnamed road), Wellpond Green from its junction with Standon Byway Open to all Access No.009 south eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 160m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via 3U40 (unnamed road), 3U136 (unnamed road), A120 (Stortford Road/Standon Road), Standon Road, The Ash, The Ford, Chapel Lane and 3U40 (unnamed road).

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 7 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. 

The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B1004 WARE ROAD, WARESIDE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B1004 Ware Road, Wareside from its junction with 3U157 (unnamed road) south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with 3U158 (unnamed road), a distance of approximately 320m (“the Road”), except for access. 

An alternative route will be via B1004 (Ware Road/Widbury Hill/Star Street), A1170 (Bridge Foot/Viaduct Road/London Road/Amwell Hill/ Pepper Hill), B181 (Station Road/High Street/ Roydon Road), B180 (Hunsdon Road/Stanstead Road/High Street/Widford Road/Hunsdon Road) and B1004 Ware Road. 

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 7 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN BRAUGHING, WARE AND HODDESDON) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:- 

1. that length of B1368 (Hay Street/Green End), Braughing from its junction with C32 (unnamed road) south westwards to its junction with Gravelly Lane, a distance of approximately 720m.

An alternative route will be via B1368 (Green End/Station Road/ Wickham Hill/Buntingford Road), A10 (unnamed road/Buntingford Bypass), B1368 Baldock Road, B1038 (High Street/ Hare Street Road/ unnamed road) and B1368 (unnamed road/Dassels Hill/Dassels/ Hay Street).

2. that length of A119 London Road, Ware from its junction with A1170 London Road north westwards to its junction with A119 Hertford Road, a distance of approximately 405m.

An alternative route will be via A1170 (London Road/Amwell Hill/ Pepper Hill), A10 (Amwell Link Road/unnamed road), A414 (Rush Green Link/London Road) and A119 Ware Road.

3. that length of Plomer Avenue, Hoddesdon from its junction with the A1170 Ware Road/Bridleway roundabout north westwards, south westwards, clockwise and south westwards to its junction with Gosse Close, a distance of approximately 437m.

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads. 

The Order will come into effect from 11 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 7 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON UPLANDS AND THE FOOTPATH SITUATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF NO.37 AND NO.38 UPLANDS, BRAUGHING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:-

1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Uplands, Braughing from its junction with Green Lane north westwards and south westwards for its entire length (“the Road”), except for access. There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works. 

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress.

2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath situated on the north side of No.37 and No.38 Uplands, Braughing from its junction with Green Hill Close south eastwards to its junction with Uplands, a distance of approximately 59m (“the Footpath”).

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north side of Green Hill Close, the footway situated on the east side of Ford Street, the footway situated on the south side of The Street, the footway on the south, west and north sides of Green Lane and the footway situated on the north side of Uplands.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road and Footpath.

The Order will come into effect from 7 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 6 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road and Footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B1000 HERTFORD ROAD, TEWIN) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B1000 Hertford Road, Tewin from a point 89m north west of its junction with Tewin Public Footpath No.022 north westwards for a distance of approximately 982m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via B1000 (Hertford Road/Welwyn Road), Thieves Lane South, A414 Cole Green Bypass, B195 (Birchall Lane/ Cole Green Lane/Black Fan Road), A1000 Mundells and B1000 (Waterside/Hertford Road).

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Whitehill, Dane End from a point 210m south east of its junction with Little Munden Public Footpath No.015 south eastwards for a distance of approximately 130m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Whitehill, Munden Road, Mill Lane, C95 (unnamed road), Ermine Street, Standon Green End, Potters Green and Whitehill.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Grove Road, Ware from its junction with Woodley Road north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 148m (“the Road”), except for access. 

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. 

The Order will come into effect from 4 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 7 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (WEST STREET AND HORNS ROAD, HERTFORD) (RESTRICTION OF WAITING) ORDER 2026 
THE HERTFORDSHIRE (HORNS ROAD, HERTFORD) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce new waiting restrictions and a 20 mph speed limit in parts of Hertford as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. 

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposals may be viewed from 3 September 2026 during office hours, at Main Reception, Farnham House, Stevenage, or on-line at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/traffic orders by selecting East Herts and looking at Ref: EH01026.
