What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

FOLKESTONE & HYTHE AREA

A2033 Foord Road, Folkestone, CT20 1HP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow bridge works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A2033 Foord Road, Folkestone, on or after 21st September 2026 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction of Devon Road to outside Bradfoord Court, between the hours of 21:00 and 05:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any Southbound through traffic is via A2033 Foord Road, A259 Radnor Park Road, A259 Cheriton Road, A2034 Cheriton Road, Foresters Way and A2033 Grace Hill.

The alternative route for any Northbound through traffic is via A2033 New Street, A2033 Bradstone Road, A2033 Dover Road, A2033 Grace Hill, A2033 Shellons Street, A2033 Middelburg Square, A2034 Cheriton Gardens, A2034 Shorncliffe Road, A259 Shorncliffe Road, A259 Castle Hill Avenue, A259 Cheriton Road, A259 Radnor Park Road and A2033 Foord Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



B2064 Beachborough Road, Folkestone, CT20 3QA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow bridge works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of B2064 Beachborough Road, Folkestone, on or after 24th September 2026 for up to 7 hours or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the railway bridge, between the hours of 22:00 and 05:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2064 Beachborough Road, B2064 Shorncliffe Road, A259 Shorncliffe Road, A259 Castle Hill Avenue, A259 Cheriton Road, A2034 Cheriton Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Bulls Cottages, Hythe, CT21 5BN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow fibre works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Bulls Cottages, Hythe, on or after 7th September 2026 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed the entire length, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents whenever it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Caldecott Lane, Lydd (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow fibre works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Caldecott Lane, Lydd, on or after 8th September 2026 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed next to Caldecott Crossing, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Caldecott Lane, Dennes Lane, B2075 Station Road, B2075 Romney Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Donkey Street, Burmarsh, TN29 0JW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow fibre works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Donkey Street, Burmarsh, on or after 9th September 2026 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside the pond of Owl Barn, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Donkey Street, Burmarsh Road, A259 Hythe Road, A259 Dymchurch Road, Botolphs Bridge Road, Lower Wall Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Swamp Road, Lydd, TN29 9PY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow fibre works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Swamp Road, Lydd, on or after 8th September 2026 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Swamp Crossing Farm, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Swamp Road, Midley Wall, Beggarsbush Lane, Wheelsgate Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



The Folkestone rotary Half Marathon (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

The Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon

Kent County Council intends to make an Order for the safety of the public whilst an event is being held on the highway to temporarily prohibit the use of Vehicles on the roads detailed below.

The Order will be effective on Sunday 27th September 2026. The event is planned to last 1 hour between 09:30 hours and 10:30 hours. These restrictions will be effective when the appropriate signage is in place.

Nothing in the Order will apply to:

• Any Vehicle being used for Ambulance purposes, Coastguard/RNLI, Fire Brigade or Police services.

• Anything done by a Statutory Undertaker vehicle in connection with an emergency repair.

• Anything done with the permission or at the direction of an Event Organiser or a Police Constable in Uniform.

Restriction: Road Closures on 27th September 2026.

Road Name: Cliffe Road and adjoining Dixwell Road, between 09:30 hours and 10:30 hours

Extent: From Cliff Road to The Leas

Road Name: West Terrace, between 10:00 hours 10:30 hours

Extent: Between Sandgate Road and Road of Remembrance.

Road Name: West Cliff Gardens, between 10:00 hours and 10:30 hours

Extent: Between Sandgate Road and Pound Way.

Road Name: Pound Way, between 10:00 hours and 10:30 hours

Extent: The entire length.



Varne Place, Folkestone, CT19 6BD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Varne Place, Folkestone, on or after 9th September 2026 for up to 10 hours or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction of Wear Bay Road to adjacent to the side of number 24, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wear Bay Road, Varne Road, Varne Place and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
