Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

Broadway, Petham, CT4 5RA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Broadway, Petham from 24th September 2026 with estimated completion by 25th September 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed approximately 40m east of Tapley, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Broadway, Waltham Road, Kake Street, Richdore Road, Woods Hill, Waltham Road, The Street, From Dean Bottom To District Boundary, Dean Bottom, Dean Hill, Thorn Lane, B2068 Stone Street, Town Road, The Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Charles Street & Bank Street, Herne Bay.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow gully works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Charles Street & Bank Street, Herne Bay from 21st September 2026, with estimated completion by 9th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.

Charles Street will be closed at the junction with Little Charles Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via:

Diversion A: Bank Street, B2205 High Street, Beach Street, Mortimer Street and William Street.

Diversion B: Mortimer Street, Chapel Street and Charles Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The One-Way Order on Charles Street will be suspended between the junctions with Bank Street and William Street, to allow access.

The One-Way Order on Bank Street will be suspended between the junctions with B2205 High Street and Charles Street, to allow access.



Grimthorpe Avenue, Whitstable, CT5 4PX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow sewer connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grimthorpe Avenue, Whitstable from 21st September 2026, with estimated completion by 5th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 45 and 39, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Grimthorpe Avenue, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane, Valkyrie Avenue and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Grove Road, Wickhambreaux.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Road, Wickhambreaux from 25th September 2026, with estimated completion by 28th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed approximately 60m and 90m south of Oak Lees, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Grove Road, Grove Ferry Road, Grove Ferry Hill, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Island Road, Mill Road, Sturry Road, Tourtel Road, Military Road, Broad Street, Lower Bridge Street, A2050 St George’s Place, A257 Lower Chantry Lane, Longport, St Martin’s Hill, Littlebourne Road, Canterbury Road, The Hill, High Street, Nargate Street, Wickham Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Harwich Street, Whitstable, CT5 4HS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Harwich Street, Whitstable from 21st September 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed adjacent to number 19 Essex Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Harwich Street, B2205 Canterbury Road, Saddleton Road, Grimshill Road, Hillview Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Jubilee Road, Littlebourne, CT3 1XW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow stop tap replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Jubilee Road, Littlebourne from 8th September 2026, with estimated completion by 10th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 40, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Jubilee Road, Church Road, Nargate Street, A257 High Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Kingsmead Road, Canterbury, CT2 7JE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow surfacing and lining works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kingsmead Road, Canterbury from 23rd September 2026 with estimated completion by 26th September 2026, between the hours of 19:00 and 07:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the entrances to the Kingsmead Leisure Centre and Sainsburys, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2248 Kingsmead Road, Broad Oak Road, Vauxhall Avenue, A28 Sturry Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Longmead Close, Herne Bay, CT6 7QW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow low-voltage mains works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Longmead Close, Herne Bay from 10th September 2026, with estimated completion by 16th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 8, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Out Elmstead Lane, Barham, CT4 6PH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Out Elmstead Lane, Barham from 10th September 2026 with estimated completion by 11th September 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed opposite Magnolia Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any westbound through traffic is via Out Elmstead Lane, A2 Dover Road, Bonnybush Slip Westbound Off, Bonny Bush Hill, Black Robin Lane and Valley Road.

The alternative route for any eastbound through traffic is via Out Elmstead Lane, Valley Road, Brickfield Road, Rabbit Hole, Church Lane, Gravel Castle Road, Old Dover Road, A2 Dover Road and Out Elmstead Lane.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Rochester Avenue, Canterbury.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow ducting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Rochester Avenue, Canterbury from 10th September 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 9, Rochester Court, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2050 New Dover Road, New Dover Road (Service Road), Lichfield Avenue, Wells Avenue and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



South Street, Whitstable, CT5 3EL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of South Street, Whitstable from 8th September 2026 with estimated completion by 9th September 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Brooklands Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via South Street, Millstrood Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Chestfield Road, South Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



St Peter’s Road, Whitstable, CT5 1HX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow new gas connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Peter’s Road, Whitstable from 7th September 2026, with estimated completion by 14th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed adjacent to number 51 Albert Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Sydenham Street, Stream Walk, Albert Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Warwick Road, Canterbury, CT1 1RD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Warwick Road, Canterbury from 7th September 2026 with estimated completion by 8th September 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed 22m from the junction with A257 Littlebourne Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A257 Littlebourne Road, St Martin’s Hill, Spring Lane, Sussex Avenue, Kent Avenue, Warwick Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Well Lane, Fordwich, CT2 0DU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Well Lane, Fordwich from 21st September 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Stodmarsh Road, heading northwards for approximately 150m northwards, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Well Lane, Moat Lane and Stodmarsh Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Whitehall Road, Canterbury, CT2 8BE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow duct and installation works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Whitehall Road, Canterbury from 21st September 2026, with estimated completion by 25th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 31, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Various Roads, Whitstable.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026

To allow sewer repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Whitstable from 21st September 2026, with estimated completion by 9th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.

B2205 Sea Street

The road will be closed outside number 20 Sea Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Harbour Street. There will be no access for through traffic between the junctions with Red Lion Lane and Harbour Street.

• The One-way Order on Sea Street will be temporarily suspended from both directions, up until the closure point, to allow for access only.

• A No Right Turn restriction will be implemented, restricting traffic from turning onto Harbour Street from Sea Street.

B2205 Harbour Street

The road will be closed, westbound only, between the western entrance to The Harbour and the junction with High Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Cromwell Road, Oxford Street and High Street. There will be no access to westbound through traffic between the junctions with Cromwell Road and High Street. Access will be maintained up to the Harbour.

• Harbour Street will become one-way northbound from High Street towards The Harbour.

• The One-Way Order on Harbour Street will be reversed between the junctions with Woodlawn Street and High Street, to enable traffic to flow northbound.

• The bus stops will be moved to the west side of Harbour Street, with some limited parking allowed on the east side.

B2205 High Street

The road will be closed, southbound only, from the junction with Terrys Lane heading southwards for approximately 20 metres, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic will be via Harbour Street, Cromwell Road, Oxford Street and High Street.

• A No Right Turn restriction will be implemented, restricting traffic on Horsebridge Road and Terrys Lane from turning right onto High Street.

Cromwell Road

The road will be closed, eastbound only, at the junction with B2205 Oxford Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site. There will be no access into Cromwell Road from Oxford Street.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Oxford Street, High Street and Harbour Street.

Horsebridge Road

• The One-Way Order on Horsebridge Road will be temporarily suspended between the junctions with Red Lion Lane and Terrys Lane, to allow for essential access/exit.

Red Lion Lane

• A No Right Turn restriction will be implemented on Red Lion Lane, restricting traffic from turning right onto Harbour Street.

Victoria Street, Albert Street and Woodlawn Street

• No Left Turn restrictions will be implemented on Victoria Street, Albert Street and Woodlawn Street, prohibiting traffic from turning left onto Harbour Street.
