Chapel Street Junction Improvement - Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order
What is happening?
The Council of the City of Salford intends to make in no less than 7 days under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984: SALFORD CITY COUNCIL (CHAPEL STREET JUNCTION IMPROVEMENT) TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026.
The Order will introduce road closures on A6 Chapel Street at the junction of A6042 Trinity Way, Salford, M3 5EP. The Order is necessary as part of Salford City Council's junction improvement scheme. The order is due to come into operation on Monday 28th September 2026 and will last for a period of 18 months or until the works are completed if earlier. The works are expected to be completed by Sunday 15th November 2026. The phases and diversions of the closures are as below:
Phase 1: East side of the junction at A6042 Trinity Way, between the junctions of A6042 Trinity Way and A34 New Bailey Street. Diversion:- Blackfriars Road - A6 Chapel Street - A34 New Bailey Street - Gartside Street - A34 New Quay Street - A34 Irwell Street - A6042 Trinity Way.
Phase 2: West side of the junction at A6042 Trinity Way, between the junctions of Ford Street and A6042 Trinity Way. Diversion:- A6042 Trinity Way - Hampson Street - Middlewood Street - A5066 Oldfield Road - A5066 Adelphi Street - A5066 Silk Street - A6041 Blackfriars Road.
Phase 3: Prohibition of left turn from A6042 Trinity Way (northbound) onto A6 Chapel Street (westbound). Diversion:- A6042 Trinity Way - A6041 Blackfriars Road - A5066 Silk Street - A5066 Adelphi Street.
