(ST JOHNS AVENUE, WEST PARADE & CANNING STREET, HEBBURN) ORDER 2026
On 26 August 2026 South Tyneside Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. Following objections to the original proposals set out on 25 Feb 2026 the restrictions have been modified resulting in the removal of no waiting at any time restrictions outside no 16 St Johns Ave. The Order which comes into operation on 7 September 2026 will INTRODUCE No Waiting At Any Time on:- St Johns Ave east side from a point 60m north of its junction with West Parade in a northerly then north westerly direction for 80m; from a point 20m north of its junction with West Parade in a southerly direction for 60m and from a point 52m south of its junction with West Parade in a southerly then easterly direction for 20m and from its junction with Canning St in a southerly direction for 10m and west side from a point 72m north of its junction with West Parade in a northerly then north westerly direction for 50m; from a point 8m north of its junction with West Parade in a southerly then easterly direction for 90m and from a point 10m south of its junction with Canning St to a point 5m north of its junction. West Parade north side from its junction with St Johns Ave in a westerly direction for a distance of 10m and south side from its junction with St Johns Ave in a westerly direction for 35m. Canning St north side from its junction with St Johns Ave in a westerly direction for 5m and south side from a point 5m east of its junction with St Johns Ave to a point 5m west of its junction with St Johns Ave. Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 26 August 2026 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
