THE BOROUGH OF BLACKPOOL
(NEWTON DRIVE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Blackpool Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and all other enabling powers to facilitate gas mains renewal. The effect of the Order will be to:
(a) Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Parkway from its junction on North Park Drive to a point on Parkway which is approximately 10 metres west of its junction with North Park Drive. Currently works are proposed to take place on this section of highway between 14 September 2026 to 2 October 2026 but are subject to change as notified on site.
(b) Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Alwood Avenue from its junction with Newton Drive to a point on Alwood Avenue which is approximately 10 metres south of its junction with Newton Drive. Currently works are proposed to take place on this section of highway between 21 September 2026 to 7 October 2026 but are subject to change as notified on site.
(c) Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Albion Avenue from its junction with Newton Drive to a point on Albion Avenue which is approximately 10 metres south of its junction with Newton Drive. Currently works are proposed to take place on this section of highway between 28 September 2026 to 9 October 2026 but are subject to change as notified on site.
(d) Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in a southerly direction along the length of the southbound carriageway of Milton Avenue from its junction with Newton Drive to a point on Milton Avenue which is approximately 10 metres south from its junction with Newton Drive. Currently works are proposed to take place on this section of highway between 12 October 2026 to 23 October 2026 but are subject to change as notified on site.
(e) Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of St Clements Avenue from its junction with Newton Drive to a point on St Clements Avenue which is approximately 10 metres south of its junction with Newton Drive. Currently works are proposed to take place on this section of highway between 19 October 2026 to 30 October 2026 but are subject to change as notified on site.
(f) Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Newton Drive from its westerly junction with the Four Lane Ends Roundabout on North Park Drive to its junction with Alwood Avenue. Currently works are proposed to take place on this section of highway between the hours of 9:30-14:30 from 21 September 2026 to 21 October 2026 but are subject to change as notified on site.
Vehicular access to premises shall be maintained wherever possible. Pedestrian access to premises shall be maintained at all times. All diversion routes will be clearly signed and maintained on site.
The proposed Order will commence on 14th September 2026 and continue in force for eighteen months or until the sooner completion of the aforesaid works.
The programme of works outlined above are scheduled to take place between 14 September 2026-30 October 2026.
