Suffolk - Multiple Temporary Road Closures & Traffic Restrictions Due To Various Works

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The B1075 Foxhall Road, Ipswich
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL has made an order closing the B1075 Foxhall Road, Ipswich from the junction with Back Hamlet to the junction with Ruskin Road to facilitate a highway improvement project. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion routes will be:
Clockwise - the B1075 Grove Lane, the A1156 St Helens Street, the A1156 St Margarets Street, the A1071 Woodbridge Road, the A1071 Woodbridge Road East, the A1214 Woodbridge Road East, the A1189 heath Road, the B1075 Foxhall Road with no vice versa.
Anti-clockwise - the B1075 Foxhall Road, the A1189 Heath Road, the A1214 Woodbridge Road East, the A1071 Woodbridge Road East, the A1071 Woodbridge Road, the A1156 Argyle Street, the B1075 St Helens Street, the B1075 Grove Lane, the B1075 Foxhall Road with no vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 31/08/2026 - 09/10/2026 from 7:00pm – 6:00am. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure And Prohibition Of Waiting On U4128 Chaucer Road, Ipswich
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL has made an order closing the U4128 Chaucer Road, Ipswich to facilitate carriageway resurfacing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be: Spencer Road, Goldsmith Road, Byron Road, Macauley Road and vice versa.

For the duration of this closure there will also be a prohibition of waiting on the U4128 Chaucer Road, Ipswich. There will be no exceptions.

As this road closure is required to permit essential works to the highway, any vehicles that remain in the area affected during the period of the restriction may be removed in accordance with powers available to do so. Temporary Closure Of The Footway Between Maryon Road And Hurricane Place, Ipswich
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL has made an order closing the Footway between Maryon Road and Hurricane Place, Ipswich to facilitate gas replacement works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
The diversion route will be Martinet Green, Ravenswood Avenue, Ravenswood Way, Maryon Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 01/09/2026 - 02/10/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure And Suspension Of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction On Part Of The A1214 London Road And Yarmouth Road, The A137 Various Roads And The A1156 Norwich Road, Ipswich
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL has made an order closing the following roads:
1. A1214 London Road, Ipswich from Handford Road to the junction with Hadleigh Road/Ranelagh Road.
2. A1214 Yarmouth Road, Ipswich from London Road to Bramford Road.
3. A137 West End Road, Ipswich from London Road to Sir Alf Ramsey Way.

This is to facilitate carriageway resurfacing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion routes will be:
1. the A1071, the A1022, the A137, the A14, the A1214 and vice versa.
2. the A1214, the A1156, the A1022, the A1071 and vice versa.
3. the A137, the A1022, the A1071 and vice versa.

For the duration of this closure there will be a suspension of the 7.5 tonne weight restriction on the following roads:
- A1156 Norwich Road, Ipswich
- A137 Bridge Street, Ipswich
- A137 Hawes Street, Ipswich
- A137 Wherstead Road, Ipswich
- A137 Vernon Street, Ipswich
- A1214 London Road, Ipswich

It is intended that these measures will operate from 01/09/2026 - 17/09/2026 from 8:00pm – 5:00am with no weekend working but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL has made an order closing the U3205 Felixstowe Road, Purdis Farm from the end of the cycle lane heading south of Trinity Park for 80 metres southbound to facilitate road construction works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

The diversion route will be: the B1078, the B1077, the A1120, The Green, Ipswich Way, Debenham Road, Gosbeck Road, Ipswich Road, the road from the U4707 to U4729, Helmingham Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 01/09/2026 - 14/09/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL has made an order closing the U4517 Wash Lane, Wortham from the junction with Spiers ill for 50 metres northbound to facilitate a new water valve installation. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 9/1/2026 - 9/1/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

- The A143 Ixworth, Ixworth from the roundabout with the A1088 for 700 metres westbound.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 01/09/2026 - 04/09/2026 from 8:00pm – 5:00am with a further closure scheduled for associated works. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure And Suspension Of One-Way Traffic On Part Of The A131 Gainsborough Road, The U8701 Croft Road, U8702 The Croft And The A131 Gregory Street, Sudbury
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make an order closing the following roads:
- The A131 Gainsborough Road, Sudbury from Gregory Street for 90 metres north eastbound.
- The U8701 Croft Road, Sudbury from New Street for 40 metres westbound.
- The U8702 The Croft, Sudbury from Gainsborough Road for 10 metres westbound.

This is to facilitate a water meter exchange. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion routes will be:
- (for Gainsborough Road) the A131, the A1124, the A1017, the A1092, the A134, the A131 and no vice versa.
- (for Croft Road) New Street, Prince Street and no vice versa.
- (The Croft) Beaconsfield Road and vice versa.

For the duration of this closure there will also be a temporary suspension of one-way traffic on the following roads:
- The A131 Gainsborough Road, Sudbury
- The A131 Gregory Street, Sudbury

It is intended that these measures will operate from 7:00pm on 10/09/2026 – 6:00am on 11/09/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).
