TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2026

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1), of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

HEDENHAM – U76388 Low Road from 900m southeast of its junction with B1332 Norwich Road for 40m south-eastwards to facilitate culvert headwall rebuilding works between 05:00 and 17:00 on 4th September 2026 (may continue until 16th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Low Road, Church Road, B1332 Norwich Road (Woodton, Hedenham). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

HOLME HALE – Church Road from its junction with Church Lane to its junction with Cook Road to facilitate blockage clearance works from 2nd to 4th September 2026 (may continue until 16th October 2026). Alternative route is via: U33273 Church Road, C117 School Road, U33273 Church Road. The works promoter is Openreach.

HORNINGTOFT – U35184 Church Road from its junction with U35157 Whissonsett Road for 25m southwards to facilitate parapet fence repair works between 05:00 and 17:00 on 1st September 2026 (may continue until 13th October 2026). Alternative route is via: U35156 Oxwick Road, B1146 Fakenham Road, C234 Brisley Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

MATTISHALL – U35013 Thynnes Lane from its junction with C198 South Green to its junction with U35014 Garvestone Road to facilitate carriageway patching works from 1st to 4th September 2026 (may continue until 16th October 2026). Alternative route is via: C198 South Green/Mill Street/Church Plain, C200 Dereham Road, U35013 Welgate Road/Thynnes Lane and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

NORTH TUDDENHAM – C498 Main Road from 163m south-east of its junction with North Tuddenham Footpath 9 for 60m eastwards to facilitate carriageway patching works from 1st to 4th September 2026 (may continue until 16th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Eastbound: C489 Main Road, C211 Mill Road/West End, U35084 Clippings Green, U35083 Mattishall Lane, U35081 Low Road, C489 Fox Lane. Westbound: C489 Main Road, C198 Lyng Road/Primrose Green/Lyng Road, C213 Heath Road/Back Lane, C215 Hall Lane/Pound Lane/Elsing Lane, C888 Mowles Road (Mattishall, North Tuddenham, Lyng, Elsing). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

REDENHALL WITH HARLESTON – C361 Low Road from its junction with C566 Mendham Lane for 320m northwards to facilitate fibre network installation works from 3rd to 16th September 2026 (may continue until 28th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Mendham Lane, A143 Harleston Bypass, Bungay Road, High Road (Redenhall with Harleston, Wortwell). The works promoter is CityFibre.

REDENHALL WITH HARLESTON – C571 The Thoroughfare from its junction with C571 London Road to its junction with C571 Redenhall Road to facilitate fibre network installation works, traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload including in pre-existing parking bays when signed from 1st September to 15th October 2026 (may continue until 15th April 2027). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is CityFibre. NB: The restriction will only be in place when signed between 1st September and 15th October 2026.

SCARNING – Scarning Footpath 7 from its junction with U35150 Stone Road to its joining with Dereham FP14a to facilitate boardwalk extension works from 31st August to 11th September 2026 (may continue until 23rd October 2026). Alternative route is via: Fen Circular Walk, U30121 Lilac Close, U30120 Lavender Grove, U30179 Orchid Avenue, U35150 Stone Road and vice versa (Dereham, Scarning). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

SWARDESTON AND STOKE HOLY CROSS – A) Stoke Holy Cross BR3 from its junction with A140 Ipswich Road to its joining with Swardeston BR12 and B) Swardeston BR12 from its joining with Stoke Holy Cross BR3 to its joining with Swardeston BR9 and C) Swardeston BR9 from its joining with U78025 Gowthorpe Lane for 485m north-eastwards and D) Swardeston BR11 from its joining with U78025 Gowthorpe Lane for 435m eastwards to facilitate cabling works from 4th September 2026 to 7th January 2027 (may continue until 3rd March 2027). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is M Group Services.

THURLTON – C516 Beccles Road from its junction with U71841 Blacksmiths Gardens for 450m northwards to facilitate fibre network installation works from 4th to 11th September 2026 (may continue until 23rd October 2026). Alternative route is via: The Street, Loddon Road, Norton Road, Beccles Road, A146 Beccles Road, B1136 Yarmouth Road. The works promoter is CityFibre.

TOFT MONKS – U76362 Mardle Road from 35m west of its junction with A143 Yarmouth Road for 30m westwards to facilitate tree removal works from 31st August to 1st September 2026 (may continue until 13th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Mardle Road, Burnthouse Lane, Pound Lane. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

TOPCROFT – U76385 Rectory Road from its junction with C369 Church Road for 240m eastwards to facilitate fibre network installation works from 1st to 4th September 2026 (may continue until 16th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Hempnall Road, Oxnead Lane, Mill Road (Topcroft, Woodton, Hempnall). The works promoter is CityFibre.

BRANCASTER – U22163 Cross Lane from its junction with U22163 Marsh Side for 120m eastwards to facilitate overhead cabling works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 2nd September 2026 (may continue until 14th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Cross Lane, Main Road, Marsh Side. The works promoter is BT.

BURNHAM THORPE – C97 Walsingham Road from 30m southeast of its junction with U22245 Garners Row for 25m south-eastwards to facilitate parapet scour and repair works between 05:00 and 17:00 on 2nd September 2026 (may continue until 14th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Walsingham Road, Rectory Lane, Creake Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

EMNETH – C14 Ladys Drove from 330m south of its junction with C19 Wilkins Road for 400m southwards to facilitate duct installation works from 31st August to 4th September 2026 (may continue until 16th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Ladys Drove, Walsoken Road, Edge Bank, Hungate Road (Walsoken, Marshland St. James, Emneth). The works promoter is CityFibre.

GRIMSTON – C75 Vong Lane from its junction with C56 Ashwicken Road for 15m eastwards to facilitate HRA patching works from 1st to 2nd September 2026 (may continue until 14th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Chapel Road, Vong Lane, Gayton Road, Lynn Road (Roydon, Congham, Grimston). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

HOLME-NEXT-THE-SEA – A) Holme-Next-The-Sea FP1 from 200m northwest of its joining with Thornham FP16 for 120m north-westwards and B) Holme-Next-The-Sea FP13 from 250m northwest of its joining with Thornham FP16 for 70m north-westwards to facilitate flood defence works from 1st September to 31st October 2026 (may continue until 28th February 2027). Alternative route is via: Temporary steps and barriers to provide safe passage. The works promoter is Environment Agency.

KING’S LYNN – U20606 Mount Street (also known locally as Park Avenue) from its junction with Tennyson Avenue for 20m eastwards to facilitate new water connection works between 08:00 and 17:00 from 1st to 3rd September 2026 (may continue until 15th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Park Avenue, Avenue Road, Tennyson Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

KING’S LYNN – U20428 Albion Street from its junction with A148 Railway Road for 18m westwards to facilitate traffic signal repair works between 20:00 and 23:59 on 1st September 2026 (may continue until 13th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Albion Street, Old Market Street, Railway Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

SOUTH WOOTTON – U22018 Nursery Lane from 43m northwest of its junction with U22409 Avon Road for 175m north-westwards to facilitate HRA patching works from 1st to 2nd September 2026 (may continue until 14th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Nursery Lane, Manor Road, Priory Lane, Castle Rising Road, Low Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

WELNEY – A1101 Wash Road from its junction with A1101 Suspension Bridge for 1053m southwards to facilitate HRA patching works from 1st to 2nd September 2026 (may continue until 14th October 2026). Alternative route is via: A1101 Suspension Bridge/Wash Road/Town Street/Church Terrace, A1122 Downham Road/Station Road Roundabout/Western Bypass/Western Bypass Roundabout/Southern Bypass, A10 Downham Eastern Bypass Roundabout/Lynn Road, Lynn Road Roundabout, Wisbech Road Roundabout, A1101 Wisbech Road/Wash Road (Upwell, Outwell, Nordelph, Downham West, Downham Market, Denver, Fordham, Hilgay, Southery, Littleport, Welney). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle tracks, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT), but may also be extended further by the Secretary of State.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
