Surrey - Multiple Road Traffic Notices

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 27 August 2027 Surrey County Council made the abovementioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpath 66 (Egham) from grid ref: 502094 171856 heading east to grid ref: 502193 171821.

The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due to works being undertaken to replace the bridge.

The closure will be in operation for a period of six months from 1 September 2026 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route is as follows from grid ref: 502094 171856 head West along Footpath 66 for approximately 300 metres to footpath to Egham 83, head south until you reach the A30 (Windsor Road) and cross at the traffic lights at Runnymede Junction. 

Head East under the underpass and continue along The Glanty/A308 The Causeway to River Park Avenue. Head North onto footpath 66 Egham then head West for approximately 650 metres to grid ref: 502193 171821. This route is the opposite in reverse. 

The Public Footpath 66 (Egham) temporary prohibition of traffic order 2026 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

On 10 September 2026 Surrey County Council will make the abovementioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpath 63 (Egham) from London Road to Bourneside, Public Footpath 74 (Egham) from Public Footpath 174 (Chobham) to Public Footpath 63 (Egham), Public Footpath 75 (Egham) from Public Footpath 74 (Egham) to Public Footpath 175 (Chobham), Public Footpath 80 (Egham) from the County boundary to Public Footpath 174 (Chobham), Public Footpath 174 (Chobham) from Public Footpath 80 (Egham) to Public Footpath 74 (Egham) and Public Footpath 175 (Chobham) from its southern end to Public Footpath 75 (Egham).

The Order is necessary in the interest of safety and security due to the PGA golf championship. The closure will be in operation for a period of 7 days from 14 September 2026 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required. 

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

There is no alternative route.
