TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2026

(NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

ALEXANDRA ROAD – A) from its junction with Dereham Road to its junction with Stafford Street and B) from its junction with Stafford Street to its junction with Earlham Road to facilitate lead water pipe replacement works from 7th September to 13th November 2026 (may continue until 13th May 2027). Alternative route is via: A) Dereham Road, Gladstone Street, Stafford Street and vice versa and B) Earlham Road, Gladstone Street, Stafford Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water. NB: It is anticipated that Road A will not be closed at the same time as Road B.

ALLENS LANE – from 40m north-west of its junction with Newmarket Road for 30m north-westwards to facilitate manhole repair works between 07:30 and 17:00 on 7th September 2026 (may continue until 19th October 2026). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

BURTON ROAD – from its junction with Vulcan Road North for 10m eastwards to facilitate manhole repair works between 19:00 and 06:00 from 9th to 10th September 2026 (may continue until 22nd October 2026). Alternative route is via: Vulcan Road North, Spar Road, Vulcan Road South, Burton Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

DIBDEN ROAD – from 50m east of its junction with Crome Road for 40m eastwards to facilitate building development works from 21st September 2026 to 17th October 2028. Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council and the Order is proposed to be made under s14(1) and s15(2) of the RTRA 1984.

HANSARD FOOTPATH REAR OF 48 TO 60 — from its junction with Burges Road Footpath South Of 2 Leading To Mile Cross Road to its junction with Hansard Road to facilitate meter exchange works between 08:00 and 16:00 on 8th September 2026 (may continue until 20th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Burgess Road Footpath South Of 2 Leading To Mile Cross Road, Burges Road, Soleme Road, Hansard Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

MALBOROUGH ROAD — from its junction with Magdalen Road for 35m eastwards to facilitate lead pipe replacement works from 5th to 6th September 2026 (may continue until 18th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Magdalen Road, Bull Close Road, Spencer Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

ST AUGUSTINES STREET — from its junction with Rose Yard to its junction with Sussex Street to facilitate utility cover repair works between 19:00 and 06:00 from 9th to 10th September 2026 (may continue until 22nd October 2026). Alternative route is via: St Crispins Road, Barn Road, Dereham Road, Old Palace Road, Heigham Street, Mile Cross Road and Drayton Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

ii) THEY HAVE MADE a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order in respect of the following roads:

ST LEONARDS ROAD, MARION ROAD, FLORENCE ROAD, BEATRICE ROAD, QUEBEC ROAD, HILL HOUSE ROAD – A) St Leonards Road from its junction with Guelph Road for 140m south-westwards, B) St Leonards Road from its junction with Quebec Road to its junction with Ella Road, C) Marion Road from its junction with St Leonards Road for 22m south-eastwards, D) Marion Road from its junction with St Leonards Road to its junction with Hill House Road, E) Florence Road from its junction with St Leonards Road for 20m south-eastwards, F) Florence Road from its junction with St Leonards Road to its junction with Hill House Road, G) Beatrice Road from its junction with St Leonards Road for 24m south-eastwards, H) Beatrice Road from its junction with St Leonards Road to its junction with Hill House Road, I) Quebec Road from its junction with St Leonards Road for 34m north-eastwards and J) Hill House Road from its junction with Beatrice Road to its junction with Rosary Road to facilitate drainage works. Road A, Road C, Road E and Road G will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over Road B, Road D, Road F, Road H, Road I and Road J shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload on either side of the carriageway from 31st August to 30th October 2026 (may continue until 30th April 2027). Alternative route is via: Eastbound – Rosary Road, Thorpe Road, Telegraph Lane East, Telegraph Lane West, Quebec Road. Westbound – Quebec Road, Telegraph Lane West, Telegraph Lane East, Thorpe Road, Carrow Road, Clarence Road, Thorpe Road, Rosary Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath.

Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle tracks, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT), but may also be extended further by the Secretary of State.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
