NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Ince No.11 (Part))(Temporary Diversion) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 26th August 2026.
The effect of the Order means that no person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable use: Public Footpath Ince No. 11 from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 359758 404693, to Point B on Laburnum Avenue as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 359722 404703, for a distance of approximately 40 metres in a generally westerly direction.
There is an alternative route via the road network and the remaining section of public footpath Ince No. 11 as shown on the Order Map.
This public footpath will be diverted for a period of six months commencing on 26th August 2026 to enable development to take place.
Lily Lane, Bamfurlong – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Kintbury Street, Bamfurlong) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Kintbury Street, Bamfurlong on 4th October 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Wigan Lane, Wigan on 13th October 2026 to 14th October 2026 between the hours of 09:30 and 15:00 only.
There is no alternative route for traffic as this is a bus lane closure only. The Order is necessary to allow new service connection.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Harswell Close, Orrell on 3rd September 2026 between the hours of 09:30 and 15:00 only.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Pool Street, Wigan on 28th September 2026 to 29th September 2026 between the hours of 19:00 and 04:00am only.
The alternative route for traffic is: Poolstock – Chapel Lane – Caroline Street – Wallgate – Saddle Junction – Ormskirk Road – Southgate – Queen Street. The Order is necessary to allow manhole repairs.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Platt Lane, Wigan on 6th October 2026 between the hours of 19:00 and 22:00 only.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Atherton Road, Hindley on 4th October 2026 between the hours of 08:30 and 13:00 only. The alternative route for traffic is: Leigh Road – Bickershaw Lane – Warrington Road – Liverpool Road.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Chapel Lane (Northbound), Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 4th September 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Chapel Lane Northbound under the railway bridge between its junction with Queen Street and King Street from 8:00pm on 4th September 2026 to 5:00am on 7th September 2026.
The alternative route for traffic is: Caroline Street – Wallgate – Southgate – Robin Park Road – Scot Lane – Woodhouse Lane – Park Road – New Market Street – Parsons Walk – Northway. Please note that Chapel Lane (Southbound) will remain open.
The Order is necessary to allow sewer repairs.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Rectory Lane, Standish) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 26th September 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Rectory Lane, Standish on 26th September 2026 between the hours of 08:00 and 13:00 only.
The alternative route for traffic is: Chorley Road – Wigan Road – High Street. The Order is necessary to allow the installation of Frame and Cover.

Wigan Borough Council (Public Footpath Worthington No.3) Public Path Diversion Order 2026
The above Order made on 20th August 2026 under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980, will divert Public Footpath Worthington No.3, from:
• its junction with Platt Lane at Point A on the map at grid reference 357851 411399, in a generally north westerly direction for approximately 350 metres to its junction with Public Footpath Worthington No. 4 at point B on the map at grid reference 357790 411689.
To
• its junction with Platt Lane at Point C on the map at grid reference 357879 411395 in a generally north easterly direction around the field and woodland edge and then northwest, for approximately 410 metres to its junction with Public Footpath Worthington No. 4 at Point D on the map at grid reference 357851 411670.
As shown on the Order map.
A copy of the Order and the Order map be seen free of charge at the Town
Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm on any day
Monday to Friday or requested by emailing libby.gill@wigan.gov.uk
Any representations about or objections to the Order may be sent in writing to the Chief Legal Officer at the Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN not later than 1st October 2026. Please state the grounds on which they were made.
If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Wigan Borough Council may, confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
