(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M55 Motorway, in the Borough of Blackpool, in the County of Lancashire, to enable replacement barrier works and other general maintenance; to be carried out in safety.
The Order will ban all traffic from the eastbound carriageway of the M55 Motorway, from the eastbound exit slip road at J4, to the eastbound entry slip road at J4.
The prohibition is expected to be in place overnight, between 21:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Monday 12th October 2026 and ending on Wednesday 21st October 2026.
However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or until completed.
Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M55 Motorway and local roads will be well signed. The prohibition will not apply to emergency services, works however will apply to traffic officer vehicles. The prohibition will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall, from time to time, be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 11th October 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
