Pennington - Temporary Prohibition of All Traffic Due To Utility Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (U5124, PENNINGTON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the U5124, Pennington, from its junction with the C5036, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1.4 kilometres.
A suitable alternative route for all traffic will be signed and available;
Northbound Traffic Alternative Route: via C5036, U5123 and the U5578.
Southbound Traffic Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U5124, A590 and the C5036.
N.B. There is a National Highways Road Closure on the A590 from the 5th October for 3 weeks during the hours of 20:00 – 06:00. The Northbound Traffic Alternative Route must be used during this time period.

The Order will come into operation on 17th September 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 9 weeks and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
