Northern Parade - Temporary Road Closure

Portsmouth City Council (Northern Parade) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.152) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 14th September 2026 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
NORTHERN PARADE ACCESS ROAD At 441-571
In its entirety.

OAKWOOD ROAD
From its junction with Northern Parade for 20 metres.
B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
HOWARD ROAD
In its entirety, on both sides.
NORTHERN PARADE
From its junction with Wyllie Road to Portswood Road, on both sides.
PHEONIX SQUARE
In its entirety, on both sides.
LONDON ROAD
From its junction with Northwood Road to its junction with Northern Parade (on west side outside Hilsea Market and 599 London Road).
C) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate gas main replacement works.
D) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 14th September 2026 to 31st March 2027 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place in sections as notified by signage and letters to residents in advance of works taking place.
E) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Northern Parade and Oakwood Road, London Road, Northern Parade.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
