(Head Street, Colchester) (Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) & (Temporary Suspension of Cycle Lane) & (Culver Street West, Colchester) (Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily suspend the cycle lane in that length of Head Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Church Walk to its junction with High Street a distance of approximately 185m as detailed in “The Colchester Borough (cycle lane) Order 1994” for the duration of the closure only. Should be “The Essex County Council (Head Street, Colchester) (One Way – Exemption) Replacement Order 2024”
2. To temporarily introduce a clearway in that length of Head Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Church Walk to its junction with High Street a distance of approximately 185m.
3. To temporarily introduce a clearway in that length of Culver Street West, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Head Street to its junction with Shewel Walk a distance of approximately 94m.
4. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above lengths of road for the duration of the clearways/suspensions only.
The Essex County Council (Colchester Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The clearways/suspension is scheduled to commence on 22nd September 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02214197656 & EP02278256631 – Benchmark Permits Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The clearways/suspension is required for the public and workforce while High level scaffolding works are undertaken by Benchmark Permits Ltd.

(London Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of London Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Straight Road to its junction with Nelson Road a distance of approximately 90m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st September 2026 – (20:00 - 05:00) for 4 nights, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2407605 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway resurfacing works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

(Manningtree Road, Dedham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Manningtree Road, Dedham in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 315m east and south east of its junction with Crown Street for a distance of approximately 60m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st September 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC311001WH2WK62B – Openreach). 1. To temporarily close that length of Kimberley Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Morant Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a north westerly direction.
2. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ from its junction with Morant Road for a distance of approximately 430m in a north westerly direction for the duration of the closure only.
