What is happening?

ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

(Clatterbury Lane/Arkesden Road, Clavering) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Clatterbury Lane/ Arkesden Road, Clavering in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Stickling Green for a distance of approximately 585m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th September 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WH3DL15VSB & BC008WH3DL15V01SB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while joint box installation works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Clatterbury Lane, Wicken Road, Poore Street, B1038 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 3rd September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Howe Lane, Great Sampford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Howe Lane, Great Sampford in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 1295m east then south east of its junction with Boytons Lane for a distance of approximately 55m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st September 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGNTV54G – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement and cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Howe Lane, B1053, B1055 Church Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 3rd September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(London Road, Newport) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of London Road, Newport in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Frambury Lane for a distance of approximately 100m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st September 2026 for 3 nights (20:00-06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP40051791335 – GTM). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing works are undertaken by GTM.

An alternative route is available via HGVS only A120, A10, A505 and vice versa.

B1052, B184, B1256, A120, B1383 vice versa (with access only into Cambridge Road & London Road).

The Order will come into effect on 3rd September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Park Lane, Langley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Park Lane, Langley in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 395m north west of its junction with Bull Lane for a distance of approximately 100m in a north westerly then northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd September 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG NTRL1C – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Park Lane, Bull Lane, Cogmore, Langley Road, School Lane, Cogmore, May Street, Little Chishill Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 3rd September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Robin Hood Road, Elsenham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Robin Hood Road, Elsenham in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 275m north west of its junction with Fullers Lane for a distance of approximately 25m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st September 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06168000TS – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

No alternative route is available.

The Order will come into effect on 3rd September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Bonnetting Lane, Berden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bonnetting Lane, Berden in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 30m north of its junction with Pelham Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 9th September 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGQNH37K – Openreach Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach Limited.

No alternative route is available.

The Order came into effect on 20th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hill Road, Hempstead & Hempstead Road, Hempstead/Radwinter) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

To temporarily close that length of Hill Road, Hempstead & Hempstead Road, Hempstead/Radwinter in the District of Uttlesford, from the junction with Sampford Road for a distance of approximately 2160m in a north easterly, south easterly, north easterly then south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th September 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP20153096082, EP20153096083 & EP201EH2407994 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

The alternative route will be via: B1053, B1055, B1054 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 27th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
