What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Nether Court Footpath, Halstead) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Nether Court Footpath, Halstead in the District of Braintree from the rear boundary of number 122 Northwest for approximately 15 metres.

Diversion route: Footpath around Nether Court and vice versa.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 07 September 2026 to 09 September 2026 where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public to allow stoptap replacements works to take place.

The Order will come into effect on 07 September 2026 may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Church Street, Sible Hedingham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Street, Sible Hedingham in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 115m north east of its junction with Alexandra Road for a distance of approximately 40m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th September 2026 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP20120367196 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while culvert strengthening works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Church Street, Alexandra Road, Swan Street, Rectory Road, Church Street and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 20th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Johnston Close, Halstead) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Johnston Close, Halstead in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Stanstead Road to its end a distance of approximately 85m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th September 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411002WH1PKC1C – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

No alternative route is available.

The Order came into effect on 20th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Wesley End Road, Stambourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Wesley End Road, Stambourne in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 900m south east then south west of its junction with Birdbrook Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th September 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310812223 – Anglian Water Business (National)). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National).

An alternative route is available via Stambourne Road, Drury Lane, A1017, Stambourne Road, Great Yeldham Road, Church Road and vice versa (with access only into Wesley End Road and Stambourne Road).

The Order came into effect on 20th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
