LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON

THE MERTON (PRESCRIBED ROUTE) (ABBEY ROAD) TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

THE MERTON (PRESCRIBED ROUTE) (PINCOTT ROAD) TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the London Borough of Merton, on 26 August 2026, made the above-mentioned Orders, under sections 6 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers so as to continue in force indefinitely the provisions of the Merton (Prescribed Route) (Abbey Road) Experimental Traffic Order 2025 and the Merton (Prescribed Route) (Pincott Road) Experimental Traffic Order 2025.

2. The general effect of the Orders will be to retain on a permanent basis the point closures in:

(a) Abbey Road, at the location of the existing width restriction, and prohibit motor vehicles, except emergency vehicles, from entering that length of Abbey Road which lies between the northern kerb-line of Station Road and a point 2 metres north of the said kerb-line;

(b) Pincott Road, at the location of the existing width restriction, and prohibit vehicles, except emergency vehicles, from entering that length of Pincott Road which lies between a point 1 metre south of the common boundary of Nos. 58 and 60 Pincott Road and a point 1 metre north of the said common boundary.

NB:- pedal cycles and electrically assisted pedal cycles will not be affected.

3. A copy of the Orders, which will come into operation on 7 September 2026, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders, can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at: Merton Link, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, SM4 5DX.

4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON

(ASHCOMBE ROAD, SW19) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate telecoms works in Ashcombe Road, they have made an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. During the works no person will cause or permit any vehicle to:-

(a) enter or proceed in Ashcombe Road from a point 50 metres north of the northern kerbline of its junction with Queens Road generally north-westwards for 35 metres; or

(b) wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading a vehicle, in the length of Ashcombe Road specified in sub-paragraph (a) above.

3. The restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

4. Nothing in the Order will apply to:-

(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or

(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or

(d) so as to prevent vehicular access to premises in or adjacent to the length of road specified in paragraph 2 above, insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the works.

5. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed using Queens Road, Haydons Road, Cromwell Road or vice versa.

6. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

7. The Order will come into force on Wednesday 9 September 2026 and it is expected that the works will be completed by Saturday 19 September 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for a period of 3 months should further works be required.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

PRINCE GEORGE’S ROAD, COLLIERS WOOD (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate ducting works in Prince George’s Road, Colliers Wood, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. During the works no person would cause or permit any vehicle to:-

(a) enter or proceed in Prince George’s Road, from its junction with Tandem Way to its junction with Christchurch Road; or

(b) wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading a vehicle, in the length of Prince George’s Road specified in paragraph 2(a) above.

3. Any designated parking place, situated in the length of Prince George’s Road specified in sub-paragraph 2(a) above would be suspended for the duration of the works in that length of road.

4. The restrictions would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5. Nothing in the Order would apply to:-

(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or

(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes or

(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited road or length of road insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

6. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed by way of Tandem Way and Christchurch Road.

7. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

8. The Order would come into force on Monday 21 September 2026 and it is expected that the works would be completed by Friday 25 September 2026. However, the Order would remain in force for a period of 12 months should further works be required.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON

(MARRYAT ROAD AND SOMERSET ROAD, SW19) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate development works and the associated movement of heavy goods vehicles into a construction holding area off Marryat Road, SW19, they have made an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in Marryat Road.

2. During the works, no person will cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading any vehicle, in the roads or lengths of roads during the times and period specified below.

(a) At all times –

(i) Marryat Road, north-west side, from a point opposite a point 0.2 metres north-east of the common boundary between Nos. 84 and 86 Marryat Road north eastward for a distance of 5 metres; or

(b) Monday to Friday between 1000-1600 and Saturday 0800-1300 -

(i) Marryat Road, south-east side from a point opposite a point 16.8 metres south-west of the common boundary between Nos. 84 and 86 Marryat Road south-westward for a distance of 10 metres; or

(ii) Marryat Road, south-east side, from a point opposite a point 39.1 metres south-west of the common boundary between Nos. 84 and 86 Marryat Road, south-westward for a distance of 6.2 metres; or

(iii) Marryat Road, south-east side, from a point opposite a point 79 metres south-west of the common boundary between Nos. 84 and 86 Marryat Road, south-westward for a distance of 6 metres; or

(c) At all times save for electric assisted pedal cycles being used in a public hire scheme operated under an agreement by the Council –

Somerset Road, south-west side, from a point 38 metres north-west of the junction with Marryat Road, north-westward for a distance of 5.5 metres

3. Any designated parking place situated in the roads or lengths of roads specified in paragraph 2 above will be suspended for the duration of the works.

4. The restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5. Nothing in the Order will apply to:-

(a) any vehicle being used in the execution of the said works or for the loading or unloading of construction delivery vehicles; or

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or

(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions.

6. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

7. The Order will come into operation on Friday 28 August 2026 and remain in force for a period of 12 months.

1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate sewage works in Griffiths Road, they have made an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.
