What is happening?

(B6254, U5631, OXENHOLME, C5048 UNDERBARROW AND THE B6254 KEARSWICK)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the;
1. (i) B6254 Oxenholme, from a point approx. 170 metres south east of its junction with Hayclose Lane, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 200 metres.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B6254, Hophouse Lane, A65, Burton Road and Oxenholme Road.
(ii) U5631 Oxenholme, from its junction with the B6254, extending in a southerly direction for a distance of approx. 100 metres.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U5631, Burton Road (A65) and Helm Lane (U5630).
Duration: From 15th September 2026 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTROW/20119)
2. C5048 Underbarrow, from its junction with the U5334, extending in an easterly direction for a distance of approx. 140 metres.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C5048, C5047, A5074, C5060, B5284 and the C5059 (Mountjoy Brow).
Duration: From 28th September 2026 for approx. 12 days (Ref: TTROW/20124)
3. B6254 Kearswick, from its junction with the C5079, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 170 metres.
Alternative Route for South East Bound traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the B6254, Oxenholme Road, Burton Road, A65, Kendal Road, New Road (B6446) and Mitchelgate.
Alternative Route for North West Bound traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the B6254, Main Street, A65, Burton Road and Oxenholme Road.
Duration: From 29th September 2026 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTROW/20122)

The Order will come into operation on 15th September 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
