What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

(U5013, CONISTON AND BRIGSTEER ROAD, KENDAL)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the;

U5013, Coniston, from its junction with the A593, extending in a predominantly westerly direction for approx. 145 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U5013, U5012, Station Road and the A593.

Duration: From 11th September 2026 for approx. 1 week

U5013, Coniston, from a point approx. 45 metres west of its junction with the A593, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 100 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U5013.

Duration: From 11th September 2026 for approx. 1 week

Phased works will not necessarily be done in numerical order.

Brigsteer Road, Kendal, from a point approx. 375 metres north east of its junction with the Whetstone Lane, extending in a direction for approx. 1.7 km.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Brigsteer Road, Brigsteer Brow, C5059, C5048 and the U664.

Duration: From 22nd September 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROW/20164)

NB: Due to the 6’6” width restriction on Brigsteer Road and Underbarrow Road, Kendal, any vehicle exceeding 6’6” will be allowed access through the closure as and when it is safe to do so.

The Order will come into operation on 11th September 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
