What is happening?
City of Stoke-on-Trent (Traffic Regulation) (Tower Square Area) (Various Provisions) (No.6) Order, 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Stoke on Trent propose to make an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 23, 32 and 122 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984. The effect of this Order is as follows:-
1. To designate parking places for disabled parking places for disabled vehicles in Butterfield Pl (N Side) (i) from a point 59m west of Scotia Rd for 15.6m (ii) from a point 48 metres west of Scotia Rd for 17.9m Forster St (SW Side) between points 6m and 15.7m south-east of Calver St Tower Sq (NE Side) 7.2m north-east of Tower Sq for 3.7m Tower Sq (SW Side) 2.8m southwest of Piccadilly St for 3.7m
2. To provide limited waiting parking for 30 mins no return within 1 hr in: Tower Sq (NE Side) 6.7m north-east of Tower Sq for 15m Tower Sq (SW Side) 6.1m southwest of Paradise St for 15m
3. To provide a loading only bay for 30 mins no return within 1 hr in Forster St (SW Side) between points 15.7m and 25m south-east of Calver St
4. Introduce a No Entry Point at the following junctions From Tower Sq into Forster St From Forster St into Tower Sq; No access via No.5 Tower Sq From Wesley St into Tower Sq From McGough St into Wesley St; No access via No.37 Wesley St
5. To prohibit loading/ unloading 10AM-4PM in Paradise St (NW Side) from Tower Sq to Oldcourt St Tower Sq (SW Side) (i) from Paradise St to a point 2.8m north-west of Paradise St (ii) from Paradise St to a point 6.1m south-east of Paradise St.
6. To prohibit loading/ unloading 10AM-5PM in Tower Sq (Both Sides) (i) from High St to Forster St (ii) from High St to Wesley St
7. To prohibit waiting at any time in Forster St (NE Side) from Calver St for 38.1m Forster St (SW Side) (i) from Tower Square for 8.5m (ii) from Calver St for 6m Paradise St (NW Side) from Tower Sq to Oldcourt St Tower Sq (Both Sides) (i) from High St to Forster St (ii) from High St to Wesley St Tower Sq (SW Side) from Paradise St to a point 6.1m south-east of Paradise St Tower Sq (W Side) from Piccadilly St to a point 2.8m north-west of Piccadilly St
8. To provide a one way system of travel at the following junctions Forster St from Calver St to Tower Sq; in a south-easterly direction Wesley St from Tower Sq to Mcgough Street; in a south-easterly direction
9. To provide a one way system of travel except pedal cycles in Tower Sq (Both Sides) (i) from High St to Wesley St (ii) from High St to Forster Street
10. To relocate the current pedestrian crossing in High St at its junction with Tower Sq
11. To relocate the current zebra crossing in High Street (W Side) to approximately 108m north of Farndale St
12. To revoke the provisions in so far as they are affected by the restrictions imposed by-this Order.
