(Various Roads, City of Chelmsford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) (Streetworks No 12) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close those lengths of road in the City of Chelmsford, as detailed in the Schedule.
The works are scheduled to commence after 3rd September 2026, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location, and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.
The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Gigaclear.
The Order will come into effect on 3rd September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Spring Elms Lane, Little Baddow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Spring Elms Lane, Little Baddow in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 760m north west then south west of its junction with Common Lane for a distance of approximately 150m in a south westerly then north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 9th September 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN013352018 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.
An alternative route is available via Spring Elms Lane, The Ridge, Little Baddow Road, A414, London Road, Old London Road, Herbage Park Road, Church Hill, Little Baddow Road, Spring Elms Lane and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 20th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(West Hanningfield Road, Galleywood) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of West Hanningfield Road, Galleywood in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 180m south east then south west of its junction with Great Sir Hughes Lane for a distance of approximately 100m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th September 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30001852305 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while vegetation clearance works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via Ship Road, B1007, Watchouse Road, Pipers Tye, Brook Lane, West Hanningfield Road and vice versa. (with access only into West Hanningfield Road).
The Order came into effect on 20th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Various Roads, City of Chelmsford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) & (Main Road, Broomfield/Broomfield Road, Chelmsford) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) (No.8) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that lengths of roads in the City of Chelmsford as specified in the schedule to this Order.
2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway as per schedule for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
3. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that length of Main Road, Broomfield/Broomfield Road, Chelmsford, from the junction with Valley Bridge to the junction with Hospital Approach as detailed in the “The Borough Council of Chelmsford (Little Waltham, Broomfield and Chelmsford) (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles of Over 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) Order 1997” for the duration of the closures only.
“The Essex County Council (Chelmsford City) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 20th August 2026 exact dates will be specified on one.network.
