Dorset - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Works

Temporary Closure of Pettycrate Lane, Chideock

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along PETTYCRATE LANE, CHIDEOCK between its junction with Lagdon Hill and a point approximately 135 metres west. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 14 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 25 September 2026.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out flood prevention works.

Temporary Closure of Clappentail Lane, Lyme Regis

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along CLAPPENTAIL LANE, LYME REGIS between its junction with B3165 and the entrance to Halstock, a distance of approximately 310 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 14 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 26 September 2026.

This Order will enable South West Water to carry out trial holes.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using; B3165 - A3052

Temporary Closure of Marine Parade, Lyme Regis

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along MARINE PARADE, LYME REGIS between Old Bonded Stores and no. 20 Marine Parade, a distance of approximately 15 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 10 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 10 November 2026.

This Order will enable South Coast Traffic Management to facilitate scaffolding to enable building repointing.

On this occasion there will be no specified alternative route for diverted traffic.

Temporary Closure of King’s Lane, Powerstock

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles, cyclists, horse riders and pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along KING’S LANE, POWERSTOCK between Whetley Cottage and a point approximately 420 metres west. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 31 August 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 12 October 2026.

This Order will enable Hatton Traffic Management to facilitate bridge repairs by AMCO on behalf of Historical Railway.

An alternative route will be signed using; Lime Hill - Jack’s Hill - Barrowland Lane - Eggardon Hill
