High Road, Woodford Green junction with Epping New Road – U-Turn Ban & Mandatory Cycle Lanes - The Redbridge (Prescribed Routes) (No. 3) Order 2026 - The Redbridge (Cycle Lanes) (No. 1) Traffic Order 2026
1. Notice Is Hereby Given That the Council of THE LONDON BOROUGH OF REDBRIDGE after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, on 20th August 2026 made the above-mentioned Orders in exercise of the powers, conferred by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The general effect of the Prescribed Routes Order will be to prohibit any vehicle proceeding in northbound in High Road, Woodford Green from making a U-turn through the gap in the central reservation situated at its junction with Epping New Road so as to proceed in the opposite direction.

3. The general effect of the Cycle Lanes Order will be to designate mandatory cycle lanes operative at any time on the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

4. Copies of the Orders, which will come into operation on 7th September 2026 and the council’s Statement of Reason’s for making the Order together with a plan of the area may be inspected between 9:00am and 4:30pm, on Mondays to Fridays (9:30am to 4:30pm on Wednesdays), until the end of six weeks from the date on which the Orders are made at: The Information Centre, Lynton House, 255-259 High Road, Ilford, Essex, IG1 1NN.

5. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any provisions contained therein on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and that any of the relevant requirements thereof or any of the relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make an application for the purpose to the High Court.

SCHEDULE – High Road, Woodford Green
(a) the north-west side
(i) from a point 28.0 metres south-west of the south-western kerb line of the Dell to a point 5.0 metres north-east of the south-western kerb line of The Dell;
(ii) from a point 7.0 metres north-east of the north-eastern kerb line of The Dell to a point 23.5 metres north-east of the north-eastern kerb line of the Dell;

(b) the south-east side, from a point 6.0 metres north-east of the common boundary of Nos. 644 and 646 High Road, Woodford Green to a point 18.0 metres south-west of common boundary of Nos. 644 and 646 High Road, Woodford Green.

Epping New Road
(a) the north-west side, from the north-western kerb line of High Road, Woodford Green to a point 64.5 metres north-east of the north-western kerb line of High Road, Woodford Green;

(b) the south-east side, from a point 7.0 metres north-east of the north-western kerb line of High Road, Woodford Green to a point 47.0 metres north-east of the north-western kerb line of High Road, Woodford Green.
