What is happening?

CITY OF BRISTOL

(FOOT AND CYCLE PATH FROM BONNINGTON WALK TO MOD PERIMETER, LOCKLEAZE, BRISTOL) 

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY FOOT PASSENGERS AND PEDAL CYCLES) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to pedestrians and pedal cycles that length of Foot and Cycle Path from Bonnington Walk to MOD Perimeter which extends from Bonnington Walk northwards for 408 metres (to the local authority boundary line with South Gloucestershire Council).

The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the path and will be operative from 28th September 2026 for a maximum period of 6 months. 

However, the closure may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which are anticipated to take place between 28th September 2026 and 16th October 2026).

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Bonnington Walk, Access to Bishopston RFC (Concorde Way), Unnamed Footpath and Cycle Way between Access to Bishopston RFC (Concorde Way) and Foot and Cycle Path from Bonnington Walk to MOD Perimeter and vice versa

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be:-

1. to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Netham Road which extends from Feeder Road northwards, then north eastwards for 113 metres; and

2. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the reserved bus lanes in Avonvale Road and Pilemarsh, so as to give effect to the alternative routes. 

The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road and will be operative from 23rd September 2026 for a maximum period of 18 months.

However, the restrictions may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which are anticipated to take place on 2 overnight occasions between 8.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m. within the period between 23rd September 2026 and 1st October 2026).

Northbound: Feeder Road, Marsh Lane, Avonvale Road, Pilemarsh,
Blackswarth Road, Fireclay Road, Netham Road
(part unaffected)
Southbound: Netham Road (part unaffected), Pilemarsh, Avonvale
Road, Marsh Lane, Feeder Road
