Tower Hamlets - Multiple Traffic Management Orders Made Permanent

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS
Traffic Management Orders – The Tower Hamlets (Parking Places) (Map Based) (Amendment No.68) Order 2019 - The Tower Hamlets (Waiting Loading And Stopping Restrictions) (Map Based) (Amendment No.68) Order 2019 - The Tower Hamlets (Traffic Movement And Speed Limit Regulations) (Map Based) - Amendment No.27) Order 2021
1. Notice Is Hereby Given that the Council of THE LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS on the 27th of August 2026 made the above-mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 (as amended).
2. The effect of these orders is as follows:
a) PTO 2229:
To continue indefinitely the effects of The Tower Hamlets (Bale Road/Harford Street) (Parking Places) (Map Based) (Experimental) Order 2025, The Tower Hamlets (Bale Road/Harford Street) (Waiting Loading and Stopping Restrictions) (Map Based) (Experimental) Order 2025, and The Tower Hamlets (Bale Road) (Traffic Movement and Speed Limit Regulations) (Map based) (Experimental) Order 2025, introduced on an experimental basis on the 27th of February 2025. That is:
(i) by introducing a one-way on Bale Road (west ward bound), additional parking spaces and an ambulance bay were introduced by removing the double yellow lines.
(ii) on Harford Street – north of Essian Street (outside St Faiths Court), additional parking spaces were introduced.
b) PTO 2253:
To continue indefinitely the effects of The Tower Hamlets (Fish Island) (Parking Places) (Map Based) (Experimental) Order 2025, and The Tower Hamlets (Fish Island) (Waiting Loading and Stopping Restrictions) (Map Based) (Experimental) Order 2025, introduced on an experimental basis on the 25th of September 2025. That is to provide additional parking provision within Mini Zone B4 (Fish Island) together with minor waiting and loading restriction amendments to improve road safety and junction visibility on Bream Street, Stour Road, Beachy Road, Smeed Road, and Roach Road.
c) PTO 2259:
To continue indefinitely the effects of The Tower Hamlets (Fish Island no.2) (Parking Places) (Map Based) (Experimental) Order 2025, The Tower Hamlets (Fish Island no.2) (Waiting Loading and Stopping Restrictions) (Map Based) (Experimental) Order 2025, and The Tower Hamlets (Traffic Movement and Speed Limit Regulations)(Fish Island) (Map Based)(Experimental) Order 2025, introduced on an experimental basis on the 16th of October 2025. That is:
(i) To increase parking capacity within Mini Zone B4 (Fish Island) by removing sections of double yellow line restrictions on Monier Road, Wyke Road, and Roach Road.
(ii) converting Wyke Road to one-way eastbound operation between Smeed Road and Roach Road.
d) PTO 2283:
To continue indefinitely the effects of The Tower Hamlets (Barnardo Street no.3) (Parking Places) (Map Based) (Experimental) Order 2025, introduced on an experimental basis on the 20th of March 2025. That is to convert six existing Business Permit Holder parking bays located on the north side of Barnardo Street from general Zone C4 Business Permit Holder bays to dedicated Business Permit Holder bays with unique permit designations BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4, BS5 and BS6.
3. The Regulations, fees and usual exemptions imposed by the governing Traffic Management Orders would apply to the proposals referred to in paragraph 2, as above.
4. A copy of the Orders, which will come into operation on 27th of August 2026 and all relevant documents can be obtained by writing to; Parking & Mobility Services, 585-593 Commercial Road, London, E1 0HJ, or by emailing: parking.Tmo@Towerhamlets.gov.uk until the end of six weeks from the date on which the Orders were made.
5. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any relevant requirements thereof or any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
