What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (C70 Station Road, Groombridge) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Station Road – from the junction with B2110 Withyham Road to the junction with U7467 Park Corner Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C70 Broadwater Forest Lane – A26 Eridge Road – C11 London Road, Summersales Hill, Lye Green – B2188 Plumyfeather Lane, Cherry Gardens Hill, Hendal Hill – B2110 Withyham Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 1 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 3 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7886 Whitegate Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Whitegate Lane – from the junction with C408 Dewhurst Lane to the junction with U7538 Woods Green.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic signed and maintained for the duration of the works via U7538 Whitegates Lane – C539 Three Oaks Lane – B2099 Station Hill – C408 Dewhurst Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 17 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 17 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.
