Hertfordshire - Temporary Road Closures & Speed Limit Order Amendments

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(Temporary Closing Of Reed End, Therfield) Order 2026
Notice is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Reed End, Therfield from a point 150m southeast of its junction with Haywood Lane north eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Reed End, Haywood Lane, Rooks Nest Lane, C10 (unnamed road), Whiteley Lane, A10 (Ermine Street/London Road) and Reed End.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing utility pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 1 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Orchard Road, Royston) Order 2026
Notice is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Orchard Road, Royston from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.78 Orchard Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 78m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Orchard Road, York Way, Old North Road and Orchard Road.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 2 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

Notice is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Dane End, Therfield from a point 150m southeast of its junction with Reed End south eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Dane End, Haywood Lane, Rooks Nest Lane and Dane End.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 1 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

The Hertfordshire (Various Roads, County Of Hertfordshire) - (Speed Limit Amendments) Order 2026 - The Hertfordshire (Various Roads, County Of Hertfordshire) - (Revocations) Order 2026
Notice is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to amend various existing Orders in the County of Hertfordshire as specified in Schedule 1 and revoke Orders listed in Schedule 2 to this Notice. The Orders will come into effect on Monday 31 August 2026.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders may be viewed from 27 August 2026 to 8 October 2026 during office hours at: Main Reception, Farnham House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage, or online at: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders, by selecting North Herts and looking at: Ref: J00126.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders, or any of their provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any Instrument made under it has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the date of this Notice, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

SCHEDULE 1:
The following road names are amended from former Trunk Road designations to the roads’ current names:
a) A14 Royston to Alconbury Trunk Road to C167 Old North Road
b) A6141 London Road to B197 London Road
c) A6141 London Road, Baldock to B197 London Road

SCHEDULE 2:
The Order revokes the following Orders as they are no longer relevant:
The A10 Trunk Road (Royston, Hertfordshire) (30 miles per hour speed limit) Order 2003
