Cumberland - Multiple Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2033 BLINDCRAKE, U2375 SOUTH STREET AND CHALLONER STREET, COCKERMOUTH AND C2003 DOVENBY) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
1. C2033 Blindcrake, from a point adjacent to the property known as Woodlands, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 200m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2033 and A595.
Duration: From 14 September 2026 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROC/19579)
2. U2375 South Street, Cockermouth, from its junction with Challoner Street extending in a westerly direction to its junction with Station Street and Station Road.
Note I have amended the description to go with the flow of the existing one-way as that makes more sense.
Vehicles wishing to access Station Road should proceed via Challoner Street, Main Street and Station Street.
N.B. To facilitate the alternative route above the existing one-way restriction on Challoner Street will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the works.
Duration: From 14 September 2026 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROC/19580)
3. C2003 Dovenby, from its junction with the C2038, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 30m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C2003, A594 and C2038.
Duration: From 28 September 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19683)
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times

The Order will come into operation on 14 September 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
