THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 56) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in North Yorkshire, to enable road marking renewal and sign works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Monday 21 September 2026 for 3 weeks, or until completed, and will take place between 8pm and 6am.

The effect of the Order will be too close, at times during the works, the A1(M):

(i) circulatory carriageway northern quadrant at junction 56, a distance of 240 metres;

(ii) circulatory carriageway southern quadrant at junction 56, a distance of 240 metres;

(iii) northbound and southbound exit and entry slip roads at Junction 56.

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 20 September 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
