Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 26 August 2026 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of (a) the entire length of Plaistow Street (B2028) Lingfield; (b) Godstone Road (B2029) Lingfield as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (B2028) Plaistow Street and (B2028) Newchapel Road to its junction with the entrance access to the Shell Garage at No.1 Godstone Road; (c) Newchapel Road (B2028) Lingfield as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (B2028) Plaistow Street and (B2029) Godstone Road to to its junction with the exit from the Shell Garage at No.1 Godstone Road; and (d) the entire length of the carriageway contained within the mini roundabout at the junction of (B2028) Plaistow Street, (B2028) Newchapel Road and (B2029) Godstone Road. This Order, which will commence on 31 August 2026 for a period of 18 months is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, to be carried out by or on behalf of Surrey County Council, including but not limited to: highways improvement and/or kerb buildout works and/ or Puffin Crossing installation works and/or carriageway resurfacing works and/or any other associated works. Works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible over and will not take the full duration of this Order. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closures will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. 

Vehicular access for residents and businesses and emergency service vehicles will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion routes.

Warren Road (D1002) Banstead
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 26 August 2026 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Warren Road (D1002) Banstead as extends from its junction with (D1004) Nork Way to its junction with (D1002) Warren Mead. Alternative Routes – (1) Nork Road; Roundwood Way; and Warren Road; (2) Warren Road; A2022 Fir Tree Road; Nork way Hill; (3) Warren Road; Nork Way; A240 Reigate Road; A2022 Fir Tree Road; and Warren Road; or these same route in reverse; and (b) suspend “The Surrey County Council Warren Mead (D1002) and Roundwood Way (D1005) 

Banstead Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in part (a) of this Notice. 

This 12-month Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 29 August 2026 is required to facilitate mains gas replacement works and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of SGN within the lengths of road described in this notice. 

The works in are anticipated to be carried out in phases commencing on 29 August 2026 between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will operate only when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. 

All other traffic, including residents and the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route. 

The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising

Station Road (B2032) Betchworth
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 26 August 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Station Road (B2032) Betchworth as extends from its junction with its roundabout with (A25) Reigate Road to its junction with (X68610) The Quarry. 

Alternative Route: (1) (B2032) Station Road, (B2032) Pebble Hill Road, (B2032) Dorking Road, (A217) Brighton Road, (A217) Reigate Hill, (A217) London Road, (A25) Castlefield Road, (A25) Church Street, (A25) High Street, (A25) West Street, (A25) Buckland Road, (A25) Reigate Road; (2) (A25) Reigate Road, (A25) Buckland Road, (A25) West Street, (A25) London Road, (A217) London Road, (A217) Reigate Hill, (A217) Brighton Road, (B2032) Dorking Road, (B2032) Pebble Hill, and (B2032) Station Road. 

This Order is required to facilitate telecom cabling works for, or on behalf of CX Telecoms. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 12 nights, between the hours of 8pm and 6am, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 07 September 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists. 

D1169 Taynton Drive, Merstham
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 26 August 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of D1169 Taynton Drive, Merstham, Redhill which extends from its junction with Sutton Gardens to the eastern property boundary of No. 2 Taynton Drive. 

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out carriageway dressing/pre-patching works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 1 September 2026.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. 

Alternative Route – Taynton Drive, Sunstone Grove, Worsted Green, Bletchingley Road, Weldon Way, Sutton Gardens and Taynton Drive.

Battlebridge Lane (C225) Merstham
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 26 August 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Battlebridge Lane (C225) Merstham which comprises the railway bridge known as “East Battlebridge Lane Railway” (Identifier: C225/940) and 20m either side. 

This Order is required to enable Network Rail to carry out bridge examination works, which is anticipated to be completed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, during the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 1 September 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary restrictions will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained at all times. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be marshalled through. 

Alternative Route – Battlebridge Lane, Nutfield Road, Bletchingley Road, Pendell Road, Little Common Lane, Castle Street, Bletchingley Road, High Street, Nutfield Road, Redstone Hill, Marketfield Way, Princess Way, London Road, London Road South and New Battlebridge Lane.

Court Road (D1085) Banstead
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 26 August 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Court Road (D1085) Banstead which extends from its junction with Courtlands Crescent to its junction with De Burgh Park. 

This Order is required to enable BT to facilitate access to underground structure and/or carry out cabling works, which is anticipated to be completed within 1 day, between 9.30am and 2.30pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 2 September 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary restrictions will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.

Alternative Route – Court Road, Bolters Lane, High Street and Avenue Road.

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 26 August 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles, including cyclists, from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice. 

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out carriageway dressing/pre-patching works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 3 September 2026. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route. 

Access for pedestrians will be permitted by the gatemen when safe to do so. Access for cyclists will not be maintained and will be required to follow the signed diversion route/ directed by the gatemen on-site.

Water Lane (D281) Abinger Hammer
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Water Lane (D281) Abinger Hammer. Alternative Route: Water Lane, Sutton Lane, (B2126) Horsham Road, Raikes Lane, and Water Lane, or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to facilitate telecom pole replacement works for, or on behalf of BT Openreach. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day, between the hours of 8am and 6pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 22 September 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, via the banksmen on site, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.

Smallfield Road (C66) Horley
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Smallfield Road (C66) Horley as extends from its junction with (D336) Langshott Lane to its junction with its roundabout with (D1095) Wheatfield Way. 

Alternative Route: Smallfield Road, Weatherhill Road, Redehall Road, (B2037) Keepers Corner, (B2037) Antlands Lane, (B2036) Balcombe Road, and Smallfield Road, or this route in reverse. 

This Order is required to facilitate telecom pole replacement works for, or on behalf of Morrison Telecom Services Ltd. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day, between the hours of 9.30am and 2.30pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 21 September 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, via the banksmen on site, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.

D1071 Woodmansterne Lane and D1072

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of D1071 Woodmansterne Lane and D1072 Woodmansterne Street, Banstead and Woodmansterne. 

This Traffic Order is required to enable Sutton and East Surrey Water to carry out water mains connection and/or maintenance and/or associated works outside “No.62 Woodmansterne Lane”. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm within 5 days of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 14 September 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and, dismounted cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times. 

Access for residents, businesses and emergency services will be maintained at all times via the alternative route: – Woodmansterne Lane, Park Road, Sutton Lane, Croydon Lane, Carshalton Road, Woodmansterne Street and Woodmansterne Lane.

C55 Headley Road, Leatherhead
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of C55 Headley Road, Leatherhead that extends from its junction with The Drive, to its junction with A24 By- Pass Road, including both arms of C55 Headley Road, at its junction with A24 By-Pass Road. 

This Traffic Order is required to enable Lenmark Construction to carry out highway improvements and/or resurfacing and/or associated works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out within 2 months of the 18 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 21 September 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure which is anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and, dismounted cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times. 

Access for residents, businesses and emergency services will be maintained at all times via the alternative route: – By-Pass Road, Reigate Road, Mill Way, Clay Lane, Church Lane and Headley Road.

Chichele Road (D442) Oxted
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Chichele Road (D442) Oxted.

Alternative Route – Barrow Green Road; and Bluehouse Lane or this same route in reverse. 

This 12-month Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 27 September 2026 is required to facilitate mains gas replacement works and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of SGN within the length of road described in this notice. 

These works are anticipated to be as soon as possible over 6 weeks between the hours of 8am and 5pm and are anticipated to be carried out in three stages. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will operate only when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for the emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, all other traffic including residents will be required to use the signed diversion route. 

The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.

White Lane (D446) Titsey
BEC Hill Climb (Temporary Traffic) Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Order, pursuant to Sections 16A and 16B of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), which will be to prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding along the entire length of White Lane (D446) Titsey. 

Alternative Route: (B2024) Clarks Lane, and (B269) Titsey Hill, or this route in reverse. Such restriction shall also apply in relation to the riding, leading or driving of horses or any other animals. 

The Order is required to facilitate a one-day road cycling event known as the “BEC Hill Climb” organised by the BEC Cycling Club. 

The Order will come into effect on 11 October 2026, for a period of one day but the prohibitions, which are anticipated to apply from 9am until 6pm, will only be operative while the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf displays the relevant traffic signs. 

The prohibition of traffic specified above will not apply to any pedal cycle or other vehicle being used in connection with the event. No vehicular access to and from any premises will be affected however controlled access for pedestrians and emergency services will be maintained at all times. 

Emergency access for organisations responsible for dealing with the loss of supplies of gas electricity water or electronic communications apparatus to premises in the area and for the removal of any obstruction to traffic will also be maintained. 

The Council are also satisfied, in accordance with subsection (3) of Section 16A of “the Act”, that the event to which the Order relates cannot be held otherwise than on a road.

Chipstead Lane (C139) and Monkswell Lane (D1162) Chipstead
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Sections 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of 

1. Chipstead Lane (C139) Chipstead as extends from its junction with Brighton Road (A217) to its junction with Monkswell Lane (D1162); and 

2. Monkswell Lane (D1162) Chipstead as extends from its junction with Chipstead Lane (C139) to the western boundary of “8, May Cottages”.

Alternative route – A217 (Brighton Road), Babylon Lane, High Road and White Hill, or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to enabl e SGN to facilitate gas main replacement and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 21 September 2026 for 3 weeks between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation for 24-hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for emergency services and residents will be maintained either side of but not through the works site. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access for dismounted equestrians will be maintained when it is safe to do so.

Bridge Street (D2885) Leatherhead
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Sections 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Bridge Street (D2885) Leatherhead as extends from its junction with North Street (D2885) to its junction with Minchin Close (D1162).

Alternative route – clockwise: Leatherhead Bridge, Guildford Road, B2122 (Waterway Road), A245 (Station Road, Station Approach Road, Randalls Road and Bull Hill) and North Street. Anti-clockwise: North Street, A245 (Station Road), B2122 (Waterway Road), Guildford Road and Leatherhead Bridge. 

This Order is required to enable UKPN to facilitate installation of service cables and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order 

that commences on 20 September 2026 for 1 day between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for emergency services and residents will be maintained either side of but not through the works site. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. 

Shepherds Hill (B2031) Merstham
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Sections 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Shepherds Hill (B2031) Merstham as extends from its junction with London Road North (A23) to its junction with Beech Road (X25140).

Alternative route – A23 (London Road North), Dean Lane and B2031 (Alderstead Lane and Shepherds Hill), or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to enable National Highways to facilitate a bridge inspection and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 22 September 2026 2 weeks between the hours of 9.00pm and 6.00am. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, pedestrians, cyclists and dismounted equestrians will be maintained at all times.

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 3 September 2026 Surrey County Council will make the abovementioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Bridleway 91 Limpsfield from grid ref: 540280 152439 heading south west to grid ref: 540208 152166.

The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due to works being undertaken on or near the highway. The closure will be in operation for a period of two months from 07 September 2026 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required. 

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

There is no alternative route.
The Public Bridleway 91 Limpsfield Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026 will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 20 August 2026 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Bridleway 84 Woldingham from grid ref: 535739 157116 heading southeast to grid ref: 536075 157050.

The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due to works being undertaken on or near the highway.

The closure will be in operation for a period of one month from 24 August 2026 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required. 

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route for horses and cyclists from point grid ref: 535739 157116 will be to cross the road, then follow Public Bridleway 159 (Woldingham) northeast for 342 metres. Then join Halliloo Valley Road and continue northeast for 283 metres to Public Bridleway 157 (Woldingham). 

Follow the bridleway south for 302 metres then west for 110 metres to Hilltop Walk. Follow Hilltop Walk south, then southwest then north then west to grid ref: 536075 157050.

The alternative route for pedestrians from point grid ref: 535739 157116 will be to cross the road and follow Public Bridleway 159 (Woldingham) northeast for 482 metres to Public Footpath 42 (Woldingham). 

Head south on the footpath for 230 metres to Beulah Walk. Head southwest on Beulah Walk then follow Hilltop Walk west to grid ref: 536075 157050.

The Surrey County Council temporary prohibition of traffic order 2026 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 21 August 2026 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpath 460 (Betchworth) which extends for 40 metres over a railway footbridge from Grid ref: 520528 150938 to Grid ref: 520554 150907.

The order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to the timber deck of the railway footbridge requiring replacement. 

The closure will be in operation for a period of six months from 26 August 2026 or until completion of the works, if sooner. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The alternative route for traffic from the southern end of the closure is generally south-east via Public Footpath 460 (Betchworth), southwest along the A25/Reigate Road, north-east via Public Footpath 48 (Betchworth), north-west via Public Footpath 47 (Brockham), northeast via Public Footpath 45 (Brockham) and Public Footpath 476a (Betchworth), then south-east via Public Footpath 460 (Betchworth).

Total length of diversion: 1850 metres.

The alternative route from the northern end of the closure will be the reverse of the above.
