(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Norman Road, Barton le clay from number 62 to number 158.

This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway patching work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place on 21 September 2026 between the hours of 0800 and 1800. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure will be via Manor Rd, B655, Winsdor Rd, Norman Rd and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 21 September 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Hexton Road, Barton le clay between Old Road and Church Road.

This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway patching work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 21 to 23 September between the hours of 0900-1530. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route will be via Hexton Rd, Steatley Rd, A6 and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 21 September 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Brewers Hill Road, Dunstable between number 88 and Hillcroft.

This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway patching work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place on 25 September between the hours of 0900-1530. The road will be closed at all times during this period. The alternative route will be via A505, West St, Drovers Way and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 25 September 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

This temporary closure is required to enable overhead cabling works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place on 25 September 2026 between the hours 0930-1530. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure is via Harling Rd, Dunstable Rd, Doolittle Rd and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 25 September 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

This temporary closure is required to enable trunk main investigation works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 23 to 26 September 2026. The road will be closed at all times during this period. The alternative route for this closure is via The Lynch, B4540, A5183 and vice versa.

a)  Bridle Way, Toddington from J&K recovery signs to B5120.

b)  Harlington Road, Toddington from Nursery Cottages to Bridle Way.

c)  Harlington Road, Toddington between M1 slip and Limegrove.

This temporary closure is required to enable loop cutting work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from

a) The closure will be in place from 2200hrs on 7 September to 0500hrs on 8 September

b) T he closure will be in place from 2200hrs on 8 September to 0500hrs on 9 September

c)  The closure is expected to take place from 2200hrs on 9 September to 0500hrs on 10 September

The road will be closed at all times during this period. The alternative route for this closure will be via

This temporary closure is required to enable bridge inspection work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 7 to 11 September between the hours of 0900-1530. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route will be via B653, New Airport Way, London Rd, A1081, B652, B653 and vice versa.

a)  Waterlow Road, Dunstable between High St North and Outside number 2.

b)  Victoria Street, Dunstable between Chiltern Road and Waterlow Rd.

This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway patching work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 9 to 11 September between the hours of 0800-1800. Each closure will be done separately. The alternative route will be via

a)  A 505, Chiltern Rd, Victoria St and vice versa.

b)  Union St, Chiltern Rd and vice versa.

This temporary closure is required to enable Water Mains Repair work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 8 to 10 September 2026. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure will be via Princes St, West St, A505.

The Order will come into operation on 8 September 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(WHIPSNADE: PART OF BRIDLEWAY NO. 1)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Order made by Central Bedfordshire Council on 27 February 2026 the effect of which is to prohibit any person proceeding on foot or on horseback or lead a horse or cycle along the length of Bridleway No. 1, Whipsnade which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0121 1828 to OS GR TL 0104 1844 has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 3 March 2028.

This temporary closure is required due to severe water damage to the surface. The closure is expected to take place from 5 September 2026 for up to eighteen months.

There is no alternative route for bridleway users while the closure is in operation.

(DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT FOR CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE)
(HYDE: BYWAY OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC NO. 15) MODIFICATION ORDER 2026

The above Order made on 21 August 2026, if confirmed as made will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to it the following length of byway open to all traffic:-

The length of Byway Open to All Traffic No. 15, Hyde to be added extends from its junction with Hyde Lane and Farrs Lane at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 1389 1876 in a generally north-westerly direction along the moiety of Farrs Lane situated within Central Bedfordshire for approximately 186 metres to terminate at its junction with Bridleway No. 6, Hyde at OS GR TL 1376 1890.

The width of Byway Open to All Traffic No. 15 between OS GR TL 1389 1876 and OS GR TL 1376 1890 varies between 2.1 metres and 4.0 metres wide and is the moiety of the width of the lane situated within Central Bedfordshire as defined by its depiction on the Ordnance Survey 25”:1 mile map (2nd Ed.) of 1901 for Bedfordshire as indicated by grey shading on the Order map.
