Cockermouth - Consolidation of Existing Traffic & Parking Restrictions

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, COCKERMOUTH AND SURROUNDING AREA) (MOVING TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 20><

1. Cumberland Council hereby give notice that it proposes to make the above Orders under Sections 1, 2, 19, 32, 35, 35A, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51, 53, 64 and 124 (as appropriate) and Parts III & IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004.

2. The effects of the Orders are primarily administrative in nature and: -

(i) Include the revocation of the Cumberland Council (Various Roads, Cockermouth and Surrounding Area) (Consolidation and Provision of Traffic Regulation) Order 2025, covering both moving and static (parking) restrictions.

(ii) The above two new Orders will be introduced: One covering moving traffic restrictions and one covering static (parking) restrictions and will apply to the entirety of the Cockermouth area and immediate surrounding area only.

(iii) All existing restrictions and associated provisions will be re-enacted, without change, within the new two new Orders.

(iv) All existing restrictions will be converted into map-based schedules.

(v) All existing restrictions will be digitised and incorporated into the Council’s map-based traffic regulation system, in line with the Governments DTRO programme.

f) No material changes are being made to the restrictions on the ground or to their provisions.

3. Copies of the Orders, together with their map based schedules, a copy of the Order to be revoked, and a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Orders, may be:-

(ii) on deposit at Cockermouth Library, 88 Main Street, Cockermouth, CA13 9LU;

(iii) on deposit at the offices of the undersigned; and

(iv) may otherwise be obtained by emailing trafficteam.west@cumberland.gov.uk.
