What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE WAVERDALE AVENUE AREA
(i) The City of Newcastle upon Tyne (Waiting Restrictions and On Street Parking Places) Order 2026 (Waverdale Avenue Area Variation TROST24) Order 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 20th August 2026 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004, and of all other enabling powers, which amends the City of Newcastle upon Tyne (Waiting Restrictions and On Street Parking Places) Order 2026 ("the 2026 Order").
The effect of the variation Order which will come into operation on the 1st September 2026 is to introduce no waiting at anyvtime restrictions (double yellow lines) at -
(a) the junction of Ennerdale Road and Weardale Avenue, and
(b) on a section of Waverdale Avenue (at the entrance to Walker Riverside Academy).
(ii) Construction of Road Humps - Waverdale Avenue
The construction of road humps (speed cushions) in Waverdale Avenue will also be proceeded with, in exercise of powers under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980, details of which were advertised in the Journal newspaper on the 7th July 2026.

If you wish to question the validity of the above Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any relevant requirements have not been complied with in relation to the Order you may, within six weeks from the 20th August 2026, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
