TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A27 Trunk Road in the County of East Sussex and the Unitary Authority of the City of Brighton and Hove, under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, owing to the likelihood of danger to the public.
The effect of the Order would be to impose a 24-hour 50 mph speed restriction on:–
a) the eastbound carriageway of the A27 between a point approximately 790 metres east of the centreline of Ditchling Road overbridge and a point approximately 20 metres west of the centreline of the B2123 overbridge; SW
b) the westbound carriageway of the A27 between points approximately 60 metres and 2370 metres west of the centreline of the B2123 overbridge (including the lanes merging from the B2123 junction); and
c) the road leading to the eastbound carriageway of the A27 at Coldean interchange (A270), from a point approximately 260 metres measured eastbound along the road from the crossroad junction with Stony Mere Way to its merge with the main carriageway.
These measures would be in the interests of road safety during the Stanmer Park Beyond Boundaries Festival and before and after as necessary.
The Order would come into force on 24th September 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, expiring when the festival is over.
The temporary speed restrictions would be clearly indicated by traffic signs while they are in operation during the danger period.
